What follows is an interview I conducted with myself. The questions are assembled from memories I have of celebrity interviews I have read in the past.
How old are you?
If you really must know, I am 30.
Brothers? Sisters?
Two of each, I am the oldest.
Where are you from?
It would be easiest to just call myself a Texan. I was born in Brownsville, raised in Laredo, have lived in San Angelo and Lewisville and now I currently reside in Dallas. I have also lived in Virginia, Georgia, Idaho and California. I really don't have much of a distinct area identity.
Speak any languages other than English?
Pretty fluent in Arabic, though lack of practice makes me rusty. Being back in Texas is sharpening up my Spanish.
How did you learn Arabic?
I was a student at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California. The course was very challenging. It lasted 63 weeks.
You look Arab or at least Middle Eastern... are you?
Nope. Most of my ancestry (traced by my parents who are really big into genealogy) is European: German, Irish, and Welsh. I am also a quarter-blood Cherokee. I am however interested in the politics of the Middle East.
Why is that?
Oddly enough I used to be very apolitical. Hated the stuff, but my life experiences have showed me time and time again that people who are not aware of their political situation are doomed to be manipulated by those unscrupulous people who do care about politics. I also had some fantastic teachers while in university. Were it not for Napoleon Bamfo, I would probably have never taken another political science course.
Religious?
No.
Brand of smoke?
Tobacco is disgusting.
Democrat or Republican?
Gads no. Both parties are too conservative. In fact, I don't even like the concept of political parties.
Dog or Cat person?
Cat, without a doubt.
What would I find in your CD Player?
Dread Kennedys "In Dub We Trust", a compilation of dub covers of the famous (infamous) San Francisco punk band. My favorite track is "Nazi Punks..." by Meg Lee Chin.
What sort of books do I read?
I usually read three or four books simultaneously. That is not to say that I arrange four books and read them at the same time, but rather I have a few books and I read a chapter here and a chapter there. Currently In my stack are David Hume's A Treatise of Human Nature, Emma Goldman's Anarchism, Bertrand Russel's The Problems of Philosophy.
Go to the movies much?
No, though I like to. Last movie I saw at a cinema was Traffic. I thought it was very good.
What then is your favourite movie?
I cannot say whether I have A favorite movie. There are certain movies that I like to watch according to my moods. I really like pretty much anything by Stanley Kubrick, Quentin Tarantino and the Coen Brothers.
Me and my brothers and sisters. I am wearing the green shirt. |
