September 11 - The Death Of Innocence

September 11,
The day innocence died
The first time I've ever seen
A whole country cry.

The day that brought terror
Fear and despair
The air thick with ashes
Courage, bravery and unity stood there

Watching is amazement
The world held it's breath
Disbelieving eyes afraid to blink
As CNN reports yet another death

In the face of National Disaster
The American Spirit did not die
Nor would it ever
No matter how hard some may try

With the death of innocence
And so many lives lost
Our lives have all been changed
Despite the high cost
