SOLITUDE

(Wednesday, December 27, 1995, 9:42 p.m.)

Give me a moment of solitude,

A comfortable void in which I can think

A vacuum, a blackness, a tiny seclude,

A blackness, a coldness, with silence to drink.

Let me unplug from society and time;

Allow me a little loneliness and rain.

Don't make me carry on with the rest of mankind;

Don't watch this blackness envelop my brain.

Let me get lost in illusions of color;

Let me get lost between Earth and Centauri;

Let me discover where stillness and sea were;

Just give me a ship and a star to steer by.
