Senator's Daughter and a Maid
By Kristjan Brezovnik
"Okay, girls, listen up," Shelly, the maid supervisor, said. "The Presidential Suite is being emptied as we speak. You'll have an hour to clean it up before Senator Summers' staff starts arriving. I've assigned two teams. There are two suits on the 17th floor and one on 13th floor that need priority cleaning. See the list for your assignments. Now move."
The maids went to the assignment board.
"Thank god," Faith said.
"What?" Willow asked.
"We're not on the Presidential Suite."
"Oh."
"Crap."
"Now what?"
"We got 1033," Faith said and pointed.
"So?"
Faith looked at her sister.
"Did you forget who's in that room?
Willow frowned as she thought about it.
"Oh no, not His Idiocy?"
Faith grinned.
"Yep."
"Great. It's gonna be a dump."
"Yeah. Let's go."
"Mom, do we really have to stay at a hotel?" Dawn Summers, Senator Summers' younger daughter, asked.
"Yes, honey."
"But there's nothing to do here."
"I'm sure you'll find something to do."
Dawn rolled her eyes.
"Like what? Watch TV all day?"
"Do they at least have a fitness room?" Buffy, Dawn's older sister, asked.
"Yes."
"Good."
"Man, that was some serious work," Faith said as she and Willow left room 1033.
"Yeah," Willow agreed. "The man's a pig. No wonder you prefer girls."
Faith grinned.
"Prefer being the operative word here."
Willow blushed.
"What's next?" she asked, changing the subject.
"918."
"Do you know who was there?"
"Not a regular."
"Oh."
"Excuse me," one of the guests said, looking out the room.
Faith and Willow turned.
"Yes, Ma'am?" Faith asked.
"Could you please put my wardrobe back in the closet. I'm in a hurry and I'm bringing guests back in an hour."
"Yes, Ma'am," Faith said and they went to the room.
"Thank you," the woman said with a smile. "And call me Veronica."
"Okay. Veronica." Faith looked at Willow. "Call Shelly and tell her we'll be busy for a few minutes," she told her.
"Okay," Willow said and went to the phone.
"It's a mess, I know," Veronica said when she saw Faith looking over the clothes.
"Oh, wow," Faith said when she saw a silver leather pants and jacket. "These are so hot."
Veronica smiled.
"You like it?"
"Hell yeah."
"She's a leather freak," Willow said with a smile as she returned.
"You can try it on, if you want," Veronica said and Faith's eyes went wide.
"Really?"
"Sure. Just make sure that this place is clean when I come back."
"You bet. Anything else you need, just name it."
Veronica smiled.
"I'll let you know. Bye."
Veronica left and Faith looked at the leather dress.
"You're not actually going to try it, are you?"
Faith looked at her.
"Are you kidding? Of course I am."
"But…"
"She gave me her permission. And I'll be quick."
Willow hesitated for a moment.
"Okay."
Faith smiled and quickly undressed.
"I'll take the trash out," Willow said.
"Okay."
Buffy Summers ran down the hall, playing her favorite game of avoiding the bodyguards. She was wearing an old track suit and was on her way to the fitness room. She'd managed to lose the bodyguards a floor up, but she knew they'd find her soon. But then she saw a door open. A maid took out the trash, leaving the door open. Buffy smiled and decided to hide in the room for a few minutes, thinking it was empty.
By the time Willow had left the room, Faith was dressed in the leather dress and admired herself in the mirror.
"Oh, eh, sorry."
Faith turned around, surprised.
"Can I help you?" she asked as they stared at one another.
"Eh, no, thank you. Wrong room."
"Oh."
"Eh, you look great."
Faith glanced at herself and smiled.
"Thanks."
"Em, I'll leave now."
Buffy quickly left and Faith stared at the door, wondering who she was.
"Who was that?" Willow asked as she returned a few moments later.
"I've no idea. Looked like a new maid or something."
"Oh."
"Man, she was hot. I gotta find out who she is."
Willow frowned.
"Aren't you worried that she might tell?"
Faith shrugged.
"Veronica gave me her permission, end of story." She started undressing. "Let's clean this place up."
After Buffy left the room, she slowly walked down the hall, wondering who the girl was. Sure, she had a boyfriend, but they both knew they were together only for appearances' sake, even though Riley, her boyfriend, refused to accept it sometimes and was determined to save her from the sin of homosexuality. She wondered if she should've gone back and ask her out.
"I found her."
Buffy turned around and saw one of the bodyguards. She sighed and continued walking toward the elevator.
An hour later, Buffy decided to go see if she could become friends with the beauty in 1029. She stopped on the 10th floor and went to the room, her bodyguard hanging in the back. She knocked and waited.
"Yes?" Veronica asked as she opened the door.
"Eh, hi," Buffy said startled. "I'm looking for, eh, your daughter?" she said uncertainly.
"I don't have any children," Veronica said.
"Oh," Buffy said, confused. "Sorry. I guess this is the wrong room."
Veronica smiled.
"Probably. Bye."
Veronica closed the door, leaving Buffy standing there, confused.
Buffy sighed and slowly walked back to the elevator.
"Shelly," Faith called when she and Willow came to the basement.
Shelly turned.
"Yes?"
"Who's the new maid?"
Shelly frowned.
"What do you mean?"
"Blond, my height, sexy as hell."
"We don't have any new maids."
Faith raised an eyebrow, surprised.
"You sure?"
"Yes."
"Oh," Faith said, disappointed.
In the evening, Buffy decided to check out the local clubs. She knew her parents would never allow her to go out by herself, so she took one of the younger female agents with her. She also had a brown wig on, so that the reporters that happened to come across her wouldn't recognize her.
After checking out a few clubs, she came across a lesbian club. Her bodyguard seemed a bit nervous about it and she smiled.
"You're my older sister, okay?" Buffy said as they entered.
"Yes," the agent said.
They got themselves a table and the agent got them drinks.
Buffy then looked around, checking out the girls.
"Can't we go someplace else?" Willow asked as she and Faith entered the same lesbian club as Buffy and her bodyguard.
Faith grinned at her.
"Nervous?"
"I don't like it when the girls keep hitting on me."
Faith chuckled.
"That just means they think you're sexy. And you are, you should be proud of it."
Willow blushed.
"Yeah, but I'd rather boys were drooling over me."
"I'll bet," Faith said with a wide grin. "Let's go to the bar."
Willow took a deep breath and followed her sister to the bar.
After dancing with several girls, Buffy got bored. She was seriously considering leaving when she saw a familiar face. She felt a bit jealous when she saw that she wasn't alone, but when she saw that the girl was flirting with other girls and not with her escort, she realized that the escort was probably a friend or a sister. She decided to give it a shot. She got up and went to the bar.
"One strawberry juice," she ordered.
Faith, who had been chatting with Willow, turned, recognizing the voice.
"Hi," Buffy said with a smile.
Faith blinked a couple of times, startled.
"It is you," she finally said.
Buffy smiled, glad that she had remembered her.
"Yeah. I'm wearing a wig."
Faith raised an eyebrow.
"What for?"
Buffy shrugged.
"I like to change my look."
"Oh." Faith gave her a once over. "You look great."
Buffy blushed a bit.
"You too. I'm Buffy, by the way."
"I'm Faith," Faith said and they shook hands. "And this is Willow, my sister."
"Hi," Willow said with a smile.
"Hi," Buffy said and looked back at Faith. "So, you don't live at the hotel?"
"No."
"Oh." Buffy looked around, suddenly nervous. "So, em, do you come here often?"
"Every evening. Except when Willow wants to go boy hunting," she added with a grin.
"Faith," Willow protested, blushing.
"She's bi?" Buffy asked.
"No, I am. She's straight."
"Oh."
"You?"
"Gay."
"I take it you're new here."
"Yeah."
"Permanently or just passing through?"
"Passing through."
"How long are you staying?"
"A weak or so."
"Oh," Faith said, disappointed.
"You wanna dance?" Buffy asked.
Faith smiled.
"Sure," she said and got up. "Willow, watch the drinks."
"Okay," Willow said.
After a couple of hours of dancing, both Buffy and Faith were exhausted.
"Wow," Faith said as they sat down at Buffy's table, where the agent, which Buffy had introduced as her sister Barbara, and Willow were having a hard time turning down offers from other girls. "This was the best evening ever," she declared and Buffy blushed.
"Yeah, definitely at the top," Buffy agreed.
"To you two," Willow said.
"What? It's no like you two have been neglected," Faith said with a grin and Willow blushed.
"You know damn well I prefer boys."
"Bummer. Perhaps you two could go boy hunting together tomorrow."
"No can do," Buffy said. "My parents want her to come with me while we're in town."
"Oh. So you don't get down and dirty?" she asked, wiggling her eyebrows, and Buffy blushed.
"Yes, you could say that."
"Bummer."
Buffy smiled and checked the time.
"Damn, we have to go."
"Already?" Faith asked, checking her watch as well.
"Yeah, we have to get up early tomorrow."
"Oh." Faith hesitated for a moment. "Will I see you again?"
Buffy smiled.
"Here?"
"Yes."
"Definitely."
Faith smiled.
"Cool."
Buffy and Barbara got up.
"I'll see you tomorrow."
"Definitely."
"Bye."
Buffy and Barbara left and Faith leaned back, a dreamy look in her eyes.
"Don't tell me you're falling in love," Willow said.
Faith looked at her with a smile.
"I think I am."
"That's a first."
"Yeah."
"You do remember she's leaving, right?"
Faith sighed.
"Yeah." She made a face. "It sucks."
When Buffy came to the suite, she plopped herself on a sofa and took a deep breath.
"What happened to you?" Dawn asked.
Buffy looked at her.
"Shouldn't you be in bed yet?"
"I was thirsty."
"Oh." Buffy sighed. "I just met the most incredible girl in the world. Again," she said, a dreamy look on her face.
"What about Riley?"
Buffy blinked.
"What about him?"
"You're together, aren't you?"
"So?"
"You're cheating on him?"
Buffy rolled her eyes.
"You know we're only together because Jackson says it would be good for publicity. And besides, he's an asshole, if you ask me."
"Oh."
"Where are Mom and Dad?"
"Still working."
"Oh." Buffy took a deep breath and got up. "I'm taking a shower."
The next day, during the breakfast, Buffy was thinking about Faith and she didn't notice when her boyfriend arrived and sneaked behind her. When she suddenly found her eyes covered, she jerked, startled. She touched the hands and guessed who it was.
"Shit," she murmured, and sighed. "What are you doing here, Riley?" she asked, annoyed.
Riley removed his hands and moved so she could see him.
"Aren't you happy to see your boyfriend?" he asked.
Buffy just blinked at him and Riley guessed that she wasn't.
"How long are you staying?" Mr Summers asked.
Riley looked at him.
"I haven't decided yet. Definitely a couple of days."
Buffy rolled her eyes and then frowned.
"In this suite?"
"No, I got another."
"Oh," Buffy said, relieved.
"But you're welcome any time."
"I'm sure," Buffy said, not very enthusiastic.
"Em, do you want to go out tonight after you come back from the dinner?"
"I already got plans. For the rest of the week."
"Oh." Riley realized that things were going bad and he decided to leave and talk to her later. "Em, I have to go now. I'll see you later."
"Yeah."
Riley gave her a peck on the cheek.
"Bye, Senator Summers, bye, Mr Summers. Dawn."
"Good bye, Riley," Senators Summers said and Riley left. "Buffy, couldn't you at least pretend…"
"No, Mom. You know I'm gay. The only reason Riley and I are together is because Jackson thinks it would be good for your image. And besides, I know Riley likes chasing girls. I'll hold hands with him in public, but I won't speak to him in private. Now if you'll excuse me."
Buffy got up and left.
Senator Summers looked at her husband, who shrugged.
"She has a point," Mr Summers said and Senator Summers sighed.
In her room, Buffy lay on the bed and made plans to avoid Riley. She was in the middle of thinking when Dawn came in.
"Did they send you to talk to me?" Buffy asked.
"No," Dawn said as she approached the bed. "You really dislike Riley that much?" she asked as she sat on the bed.
Buffy shuddered.
"He gives me the creeps. He's got this weird, old-fashioned notion of a relationship. He even said that Dad should be the senator, not Mom."
Dawn frowned.
"Dad hates politics."
"I know." Buffy sighed. "Listen, if Riley's looking for me, tell him I'm not here. Make up something, I really don't want to speak to him."
"What's in it for me?"
Buffy rolled her eyes.
"I'll owe you one."
Dawn smiled.
"Okay," she said and got off the bed.
"Hey," Buffy said when she came to the lesbian club in the evening. "Sorry I'm late."
Faith smiled.
"No problem," she said as Buffy and her bodyguard sat down.
"Wanna dance?"
Buffy smiled.
"In a few. I need something to drink first and relax a bit."
"Okay," Faith said and waved at a waitress.
"What can I get you?" the waitress asked when she arrived.
"A strawberry daiquiri," Buffy said.
"You like strawberries, huh?" Faith said with a smile.
"Yeah."
"A coke," the bodyguard said.
The waitress looked at Faith and Willow.
"We're good," Faith said.
"Okay," the waitress said and left.
"Had a busy day?" Willow asked Buffy.
"Yeah, I've been all over town."
"I know how that feels."
"Yeah," Faith agreed. "Oh, listen, a friend of mine is throwing a party tomorrow. Wanna come?"
"A party?" Buffy thought for a moment. "Sure," she said and Faith smiled.
"Cool. I'll pick you up here at eight. Okay?"
Buffy thought for a moment.
"Sure. But let me give you my phone number, in case my parents decide they have other plans."
Faith grinned.
"Okay. You got a cell phone?"
"Yes."
"Give it to me."
Buffy fished her pockets until she pulled out her cell phone.
"Here," she said and gave it to Faith, who had taken her own cell phone out.
Faith used Buffy's phone to call her own. When it rang, she severed the connection and gave Buffy her phone back.
"Save the number," she said as she did that on her own phone.
Buffy smiled.
"Nice trick," she said as she saved the number.
"Yeah."
"Here you go," the waitress said as she returned.
"Thanks," Buffy said when she got her drink.
The waitress nodded and left.
"Mmm, that felt good," Buffy said after she took a sip.
"Ready to dance yet?"
"Just a few more minutes."
"Okay."
"Mom, please tell me you don't have any plans this evening," Buffy said at breakfast the next morning.
"Yes."
"Till when?"
Senator Summers thought for a few moments.
"Nine, I believe."
"Damn."
"Is something wrong?"
"I've been invited to a party."
"A party?"
"Can I come?" Dawn asked.
"No," Buffy said.
"I bet she's going with that girl she met," Dawn told her parents.
"Dawn," Buffy said and glared at her.
"What girl?" Mr Summers asked.
Buffy sighed.
"Her name's Faith. I met her at a bar."
"You're going out with a girl you met at a bar?" Senator Summers asked.
"Well, I met her before, right here in this hotel, but when I came back from the fitness room, she was gone."
"A maid?"
"No. Unless they wear expensive Versace leather outfits."
"Oh."
"And Riley?" Mr Summers asked.
"What about him?" Buffy said.
"I thought he was your boyfriend."
Buffy rolled her eyes.
"As far as public is concerned. You know I don't love him. In fact, I was thinking about breaking up with him, he can't seem to understand that I don't want to have anything to do with him."
"But he came all the way from Wisconsin."
"To kiss Mom's ass."
"Buffy," Mr Summers chided her.
"Sorry, but it's true. And you know what his family is like, a bunch of stuck up neo-conservatives."
"She has a point there," Dawn said. "They really are stuck up."
Buffy smiled at her.
"It's all politics, Mom," she then said. "I may be dating him now, but I sure as hell aren't marrying him and you know that."
Senator Summers sighed.
"Yes."
"Oh, Dawn, you're sitting next to me next time."
Dawn made a face.
"Why?"
"So I'll have someone to talk to."
"Oh," Dawn said and grinned.
In the evening, Buffy and Barbara met Faith and Willow at the bar.
"Hop in," Faith said through the window.
"We got our own car," Buffy said.
"Oh. Then get it and follow us."
"Okay."
Buffy and Barbara hurried to their car and Faith and Willow waited. Once Buffy's car was on the road, Faith drove on, leading the way.
"Not bad," Buffy said as they entered the house where the party was.
"Yeah," Faith said. "Let's dance."
Buffy smiled.
"Okay."
After dancing for a while, they went out to the veranda. Barbara followed them, keeping an eye on Buffy, but she didn't get too close, giving them some privacy.
"Man, this feels good," Faith said as she closed her eyes and let the night breeze cool her off.
Buffy smiled.
"Yeah," she said and closed her eyes as well.
They stood like that for a while and then Faith opened her eyes and looked at Buffy.
"You having fun?"
Buffy opened her eyes and looked at her with a smile.
"Yeah. Better music than in the club."
"I know," Faith said with a smile.
They stared at one another for a few moments.
"You know, I really like hanging out with you."
Faith smiled again.
"Ditto."
Buffy thought for a moment.
"You know, I'm not really from around here and I'll be leaving in a couple of days, but I'd like to keep in touch."
"Yeah?" Faith said, excited, and Buffy smiled.
"Yes."
"Cool. Hey, we already have one another's phone numbers."
"Yes."
"So, you'll call me?"
"Absolutely." Buffy hesitated for a moment. "If you want, of course," she then added, suddenly nervous.
"Absolutely," Faith said and they both grinned. "So, em, wanna dance again?"
"Sure, just let me get something do drink or I'll evaporate."
"Yeah, me too."
Riley was slowly walking to the elevator when Willow came out of the room that she and Faith were cleaning.
"Hello," Riley said as he passed her, and slapped her on the butt.
"Hey!" Willow said, surprised. "Keep your hands to yourself." She moved on, shaking her head. "Asshole."
Riley grinned and moved on. As he passed the room from which Willow came, he looked inside and whistled when he saw Faith standing on her toes, trying to reach a peace of food that had somehow landed on one of the curtains. Riley's grin widened and he entered the room.
"I think we're gonna need a ladder," Faith said, hearing footsteps.
"I'm all for it," Riley said as he put his arm around her waist.
Faith immediately elbowed him in the face and he let go of her with a yelp, clutching his bleeding nose.
"Who the fuck are you?" Faith demanded as she backed away.
"You broke my nose, bitch," Riley said.
"Not my problem."
"I'll have you fired for this."
"I don't think so," Faith said. "Now get the fuck out of here."
"Do you know who I am?"
"No, and I don't really give a fuck. And unless you get out of here, I'm calling the security."
"You'll pay for this, bitch," Riley said and went back to his room.
"Moron," Faith said, shaking her head.
She went back to the curtain and looked at the piece of food. She thought for a few moments and then grabbed the curtain and snapped it like a whip, making the piece of food fall off. She watched where it landed and then looked back at the curtain to see if there was any stain. There wasn't, so she went to the piece of food, picked it up and threw it away.
Then Willow returned, grinning.
"What's so funny?" Faith asked.
"There was a guy with a broken nose."
"Yeah, that would be my fault."
Willow blinked, surprised.
"Your fault?"
"Yeah. The son of a bitch came here and tried to cop a feel. I introduced his nose to my elbow."
Willow chuckled.
"Good." She looked at the curtain. "Did you get that piece of food?"
"Yeah."
"Okay."
When Riley returned to his suit, he went to the bathroom to check on his nose. Fortunately, it wasn't broken, but it was swollen and there would be a bruise.
"Bitch," he murmured.
"I'd like to file a complaint," Riley said when he got to the front desk.
"What seems to be the problem?" the clerk asked.
"One of the maids hit me."
The clerk looked at his nose.
"I see. On which floor?"
"17th."
"When?"
Riley frowned.
"I don't know, ten minutes ago."
"Why?"
Riley blinked, startled.
"What?"
"Why did she hit you?"
"I don’t know. I just said hi," he lied.
"This way, please."
The clerk led the way and Riley followed her, confused.
"Jim," the clerk said when they got to the security office.
"Claire. What can I do for you?"
"Mr…"
"Finn," Riley supplied.
"Mr Finn claims that one of the maids hit him."
"When and where?"
"17th, ten minutes ago."
"One moment."
Jim accessed his data.
"You harassed a maid," he then said, "but she didn't hit you."
He turned the monitor and ran the tape again.
"Not her, a brunette. A minute later."
Jim let the tape run on and they could see Riley enter a room and come back out a few moments later, holding his nose.
"Okay, let me get this straight, Mr Finn. You harassed two maids, violating the first rule of this hotel. Did you or did you not sign off under the rule list?"
Riley frowned.
"I think so."
"You haven't read it?"
"Eh, no," Riley said, getting more confused by the minute.
"Well, then let me inform you that rule number one states that harassing the maids is punishable by immediate eviction."
"What?" Riley said, surprised. "But she hit me."
"And I'm sure she had a good reason. You see, rule number one also allows the maids to defend themselves if they feel threatened. Now, you have one hour to leave this hotel. After that you will be thrown out."
Riley stared at him, astonished.
"You can't throw me out."
"I'm afraid I can."
"Do you know who I am?"
"I don’t and I don’t care, Sir. Now if you would please leave. The clock is ticking."
"I'm going straight to the manager."
"If you wish," Jim said and cast a meaningful glanced at Claire, who smirked. "Claire."
"This way, Mr Finn," Claire said.
Riley stared at Jim for a few moments and then at Claire, unable to believe what just happened.
"Riley! What happened?" Senator Summers asked when Riley came to their suite and she saw his nose.
"Some maid hit me. And now they want me to leave."
"Leave?" Senator Summers said, startled. "Why?"
"Something about harassing the maids, I don't know. I went to complain, but they told me to leave."
"Oh."
"I was on my way to the manager and I was wondering if you could, eh, help me out."
The Senator stared at him for a few moments.
"Yes, of course."
"Mr Finn, Senator," the manager said when he and Senator Summers entered. "Shouldn't you be packing, Mr Finn?"
Riley blinked, surprised.
"Excuse me?"
"I believe you've been evicted."
"But…"
"Mrs Wade," Senator Summers interjected, "what is going on?"
Mrs Wade looked at her.
"Mr Finn here has been harassing two of the maids, one in the hallway and another in a room they were cleaning. The second maid hit him when he put his hand around his waist."
"Riley?" Senator Summers said, annoyed.
"But I just said hi," Riley lied.
"I'm afraid I don't believe you," Mrs Wade said.
"But don't you know who I am?"
"Mr Finn, I couldn't care less who you are. For all I care you could be the President, the Pope or the Queen of England. You harass the girls, you're out of here. And it's not my problem if you haven't read the rules." She glanced at the clock on the wall. "I believe you still have 53 minutes left."
Riley glanced on the wall, surprised.
"Isn't that pretty strict?" Senator Summers asked, not really caring anymore about Riley.
"Senator, I used to be a maid and I know what they have to go through. We tolerate many things, harassing the maids is not one of them. That is why every guest has to sign under their copy of the rules and why there is a rule list in every room." She looked at Riley, who was still staring at her, dumbfounded. "And please don't bother to come again, Mr Finn, you are not welcome here anymore." She looked back at the Senator. "I apologize, Senator, I hope this incident hasn't ruined your day."
"No, merely wasted my time," Senator Summers said, glaring at Riley. "I will inform my staff to read the rules again, just in case."
"Thank you, Senator, that is most thoughtful of you. I really would like to avoid any further incidents."
"As would I," the Senator agreed. "Thank you for your time."
"It was no problem, Senator."
Senator Summers nodded and left without looking at Riley, who quickly followed her.
"Mrs Summers…" he started after they were out of the officer.
"Riley, don't speak to me," the Senator cut him off.
"Yes, Ma'am," Riley said, nervous.
"Mom?" Buffy asked, curious, when Senator Summers got back to the suite.
"Riley got evicted because he was harassing two of the maids."
"Evicted?" Buffy said, surprised.
"Yes. I told Jackson to have everyone review the rules again, the manager is very strict about them."
"Oh." Buffy thought for a moment. "Do you think him getting thrown out is bad for publicity?" she then asked thoughtfully.
Senator Summers raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, I suppose."
Buffy smiled.
"Good, I'll go tell Jackson."
"You're breaking up with him?" Dawn asked.
"Yes. And if Jackson wants me to date another man, I'll tell him to shove it."
"Buffy," Senator Summers chided her, trying not to smirk.
Buffy smiled.
"Just so you know," she said and went to another room.
Senator Summers shook her head and looked at her husband.
"I like the manager," she said.
Mr Summers raised an eyebrow.
"Even though she threw Riley out?"
"Yes. She cares about her staff. If it was my word against a maid's, she'd believe the maid."
"You mean she'd throw us out?" Dawn asked, surprised.
Senator Summers smiled at her.
"Only if we break the rules and only the person who broke them."
"But you're a Senator."
"It doesn't matter to her who I am and I'm quite convinced she would throw the Pope out if a maid accused him of being indecent."
Dawn giggled at the thought and then thought for a moment.
"Do you know where can I get a copy of the rules?"
"Try the suite door or ask Jackson," Senator Summers suggested, and Dawn left. She looked at her husband. "Are the girls ready to go?"
"Yes."
Faith was returning to her car in the underground garage when she heard shots. She'd been sent to the mall by a guest and was on her way back. She immediately ducked and then carefully looked around to see what was going on. She saw a couple of men retreating toward a car, dragging a screaming girl with them. They were shooting at two other men, which Faith guessed were trying to save the girl but were afraid of hitting her. She hesitated for a moment and then decided to try and help.
She put her bag down and then sneaked up to the car, waiting for the kidnappers to reach the car. When they did, she waited until the first kidnapper was blocked by the back door, which was open. Then she ran to the car, pushed the second kidnapper hard and grabbed the girl's hand and dragged her away.
The first kidnapper immediately turned at the commotion. When he saw what happened, he immediately started shooting after Faith and the girl. He managed to hit Faith in the arm and she tripped, in pain.
The two bodyguards, seeing the opportunity, quickly started running toward the kidnappers' car, shooting. They managed to hit the first kidnapper.
"Fuck!" the second kidnapper swore, furious, and got into the car.
The car started driving away, but the agents kept shooting. The car went out of control when they hit the driver, and stopped when they hit the engine.
The second kidnapper got out and started to run, but the bodyguards were on him and they knocked him out.
Faith, who had immediately gotten up again, took the girl and they hid.
"Are you okay?" the girl finally asked, calming down a bit.
Faith looked at her shoulder.
"Yeah, just a surface wound," she said through her teeth.
"Oh."
They were quiet for a few moments and then the shooting stopped. Faith got on her knees and carefully looked.
"What's going on?" the girl asked, nervous.
"Looks like the men who tried to kidnapped you have been taken care of."
"Really?" the girl said, got on her knees and carefully looked as well.
"Yeah."
"Dawn!" one of the bodyguards called. "Dawn, where are you?!"
"Here!" Dawn said and stood up, but Faith pulled her down.
"Who are they?"
"My bodyguards," Dawn said.
Faith blinked, surprised.
"Oh," she said and let go of her.
Dawn smiled and got up.
"I'm here!" she called and waved at the bodyguards.
Faith got up as well, covering her wound.
"Everything okay?" the bodyguard asked, his gun still ready.
"Yeah, but she's wounded."
"Come here."
Dawn went to the bodyguard and Faith slowly followed her, noticing that the bodyguard still considered her a potential threat.
"You got some bandages?" she asked, hoping to lessen the tension.
"Yes," the bodyguard said as Dawn passed him. "Come."
He stepped aside and let Faith pass.
When they got to the kidnappers' car, Faith saw that two of them were dead and the third out.
"Man," she said.
"Why did you save her?" the bodyguard behind her asked.
Faith glanced at him and shrugged.
"I hate assholes."
The bodyguard raised an eyebrow but didn't comment.
Then the police cars started arriving, their sirens blaring.
She and the bodyguard reached their car, into which the kidnappers had crashed. Dawn was sitting in the back and the second bodyguard was outside, waiting. He looked at Faith.
"Sit," he said and opened the co-driver's door.
Faith sat and waited until he retrieved the first aid kit.
The first bodyguard went to talk to the police in the meantime.
"Dawn!" Senator Summers called, relieved, when the bodyguards delivered Dawn.
"Mom!" Dawn cried and ran to her, hugging her tightly.
"Are you alright?"
Dawn nodded, still hugging her.
"Yeah."
"What happened?" Mr Summers asked and looked at the bodyguards.
"The kidnappers crashed their car into ours and grabbed Dawn before we could get out. Then a maid showed up just as they were getting into the car."
"A maid?" Buffy said, surprised.
"Yes. She grabbed Dawn and dragged her to safety. We took care of the kidnappers."
"She works at our hotel," Dawn said, letting go of her mother.
"Who does?" Senator Summers asked, startled.
"Faith, the maid who saved me."
"Really?"
"Yes. She was shot in the arm."
"Really? Is she okay?"
"Yes."
Senator Summers sighed and looked at the bodyguards.
"Have you found out why they wanted to kidnap Dawn?"
"The police are questioning the survivor."
"I see. Thank you." She looked at her husband. "We should thank her."
Mr Summers nodded.
"Yes."
After the police were through questioning Faith, the bodyguards had long since gotten Dawn out of there. When she was finally free to go, she first drove back to the hotel.
"Hey, where's Willow?" she asked when she met several maids.
"Up on 11th," one of them said.
"What happened to you?" another asked.
"It's a long story," Faith said. "Is Shelly in her office?"
"Yes."
"Okay."
Faith first delivered the ware to the guest that had sent her to the mall, and then went to Shelly.
"What happened to you?" Shelly asked when Faith entered.
"I got shot."
"What? Are you okay?" Shelly asked, worried.
"Yeah, just a scratch."
"What happened? I need to tell Marisa."
"The lady from 1241 sent me to the mall. When I was getting to my car, I heard shots. Some men tried to kidnap a girl." She frowned. "I think she said she's from this hotel. Anyway, I hid behind a support pillar and when the kidnappers came to their car, I rescued the girl, but one of the kidnappers shot me."
"You serious?" Shelly said, surprised.
Faith grinned.
"Yeah, I know, it sounds crazy."
"Yes." She thought for a moment. "What's the girl's name?"
"Dawn."
"Dawn. Is she okay?"
"Yes."
"Good." She thought for a moment. "I assume the cops were involved."
"Yeah, they questioned me."
"Okay, I'll tell Marisa."
"Listen, I need to go to the hospital and get some stitches."
"Yes, of course. And you can stay home tomorrow."
"It's not that bad, I'll be fine tomorrow."
Shelly raised an eyebrow, skeptical.
"Well, if you're sure. But if you feel bad, stay home."
"Yeah, okay. Tell Willow, will you?"
"Yes, of course. Go."
When the Summers family returned to the hotel, Buffy and Dawn went to their room and their parents went to see the manager.
"Ah, Senator Summers," the manager said when they entered. "I heard about Dawn. Thank god she's alright."
"You've heard?" Senator Summers said, startled.
"Yes, of course."
"Oh. Em, actually, we're here to thank the maid who…"
"Faith," the manager said and chuckled.
"What's so funny?" Senator Summers said, startled.
"This is the same maid that elbowed Mr Finn."
"Oh." She smiled. "How is she? We heard she was shot."
"Yes, in the arm. She went to the hospital to get some stitches. She's off for the rest of the day and she might stay home tomorrow."
"Oh. I see. Could you please tell her to come to our suite when she comes back to work? We'd like to thank her."
"Yes, of course."
"Thank you."
"Mom? Faith?" Willow said when she came home.
"Hi, honey," Mrs Spencer said.
"Where's Faith?"
"In her room, resting."
"How is she?"
"She's fine, just a bit tired."
"Oh. I'll go see her."
"Okay."
Willow went to Faith's room and knocked on her door.
"Come!" Faith called and Willow entered. "Hey."
"How are you? I heard you got shot."
"Yeah."
Willow then noticed the bandage.
"Does it hurt?"
"It stings."
"Oh."
"What happened? Shelly said you were saving some girl from kidnappers."
"Yeah. I'm a real hero."
Willow smiled.
"Sure you are, you saved the girl."
Faith smiled back.
"Yeah."
"Are you sure you're okay?" Willow asked again, noticing that Faith seemed to be drowsy.
"Yeah, just a bit tired. They gave me painkillers. I need a nap."
"Oh. Okay. I'll talk to you later then."
"Okay."
In the afternoon, Buffy called Faith.
"Buffy?" Faith said, excited.
"Yes."
"Hey. What's up?"
"Listen, I won't be able to come to the club tonight."
"Oh," Faith said, disappointed.
"We've had some… family emergency."
"Everything alright?" Faith asked, worried.
"Yeah, everything's fine, but my parents are now overly protective."
Faith chuckled.
"Okay." She thought for a moment. "And tomorrow?"
"I hope I'll be able to come."
"Great."
"Yeah." She hesitated for a moment. "And how are you?"
Faith took a deep breath.
"I've had a really lousy day."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. It's a long story."
"Oh."
"I wanted to call you and tell you that I wouldn't be coming tonight, but I've been sleeping ever since I got home," Faith said and yawned.
"Oh." Buffy hesitated for a moment. "Anyway, I gotta go now. Hopefully, I'll see you tomorrow."
"Yeah. Bye."
"Bye."
Buffy turned off the phone and stretched on the bed. She really liked Faith and she wondered if whatever was going on between them would last.
"Faith!" Shelly called the next day after she handed out assignments.
"Yeah?"
"You're wanted in the Presidential Suite."
Faith frowned.
"Me?"
"Yes."
"Okay." She looked at Willow. "You go ahead, I'll come later."
"Okay."
When Faith approached the Presidential Suite, the bodyguards stopped her.
"Em, I'm Faith. I've been told I am wanted here."
One of the bodyguards entered the suite and returned a few moments later.
"Go in."
Faith entered and looked around, but the staff barely noticed her.
"You're Faith?" Jackson asked, noticing the bandage on her arm.
"Yeah."
"Hold on." Jackson went to another room and returned a couple of moments later. "Go in."
Faith looked around, wondering what the hell was going on, and went to the room.
"Eh, you…" she started but trailed off when she saw Dawn and Buffy.
"Hi," Dawn said with a smile.
Faith blinked.
"Buffy?" she said, surprised, looking from Dawn to Buffy to the parents.
"Faith?" Buffy said, equally surprised.
"You two know each other?" Senator Summers asked, surprised.
"Yeah. She's… She's the girl I was telling you about."
"Your girlfriend?" Dawn asked and both Buffy and Faith blushed.
"You two are, eh, Senator Summers' daughters?" Faith then asked.
"Yeah," Buffy said.
"Oh."
"And you're a maid."
"Yeah," Faith said and sighed, realizing that it was probably over between her and Buffy.
They stared at one another for a few moments and then Faith looked at Buffy's parents.
"Em, you wanted to see me?"
"Yes," Senator Summers said. "We wanted to thank you for saving Dawn."
"Oh." Faith shrugged. "No problem."
Senator Summers raised an eyebrow.
"I think it was very brave of you. I've seen the security tapes."
"Oh."
"How's your arm?"
Faith glanced at the bandage.
"It's still stinging a bit."
"I see. Well, thank you, Faith."
Faith nodded.
"You're welcome. Is there anything else?"
"No, thank you."
"Yes, Ma'am," Faith said and turned to leave.
"Faith, wait!" Buffy called and ran to her.
"Can I help you?" Faith asked, being professional.
Buffy blinked, startled by Faith's coldness, but then she realized that Faith was probably worried. She sighed.
"Come."
When Faith didn't move, she took her hand and led her to her room.
"Can I help you?" Faith asked when they were alone.
Buffy sighed again.
"I think we need to talk."
"You're a senator's daughter, I'm a maid. What's there to talk about?"
"Does it bother you that I'm a senator's daughter?"
Faith blinked, startled.
"Me? Doesn't it bother you that I'm a maid?"
"No."
Faith stared at her for a few moments, surprised.
"Oh."
Buffy smiled.
"Look, I couldn't care less what you do for living."
Faith thought for a few moments.
"When I saw you in that sweat suit, I thought you were a new maid."
Buffy smiled.
"And I thought you were a guest."
"Oh."
"Where did you get that dress?"
"The woman from that apartment told me and Willow to put the clothes back in the closet. When she saw I loved that dress, she said I could try it on."
"Oh. You looked hot."
Faith smiled, blushing a bit.
"Thanks."
Buffy thought for a moment.
"That explains why you weren't there when I came back from the fitness room."
"You wanted to see me?" Faith asked, her heart racing.
Buffy blushed a bit.
"Yeah."
"Oh."
Buffy smiled.
"So, I hear you elbowed Riley."
Faith blinked, startled.
"Who's Riley?"
"They guy you elbowed."
Faith frowned.
"How do you know him?"
Buffy sighed.
"He was my boyfriend. Sort of."
"Your boyfriend?" Faith said, surprised.
Buffy sighed.
"Yeah. Jackson, that's my mom's campaign manager, he thought it would be good for her image if I dated him."
"Oh."
"We both knew why we were together, but he kept thinking of me as his future wife. I mean, he slept with other girls and so did I, but I never thought of our relationship as anything permanent." She smiled. "Good thing you elbowed him."
Faith blinked.
"What's so good about it?"
"He got thrown out of the hotel and it gave me a good excuse to break up with him."
Faith frowned.
"Because he was chasing maids?"
Buffy grinned.
"No, because he's bad for my mom's public image."
"Oh." Faith thought for a moment. "And who's Barbara?"
"One of the bodyguards."
"Thought so." Faith took a deep breath. "Okay, so we're clear on who's who. Now what?"
Buffy shrugged.
"I would really like to keep seeing you."
"But you leave in a few days."
Buffy thought for a few moments.
"I could transfer to your school. That way we could see one another every day during the school year."
Faith raised an eyebrow, surprised.
"You serious?"
"Yes. And you already have my phone number and I have yours."
Faith thought about it.
"And you're sure you want this?"
"Yes." Buffy hesitated for a moment, suddenly nervous. "Do you?"
Faith blinked, startled by the fact that Buffy was nervous. She smiled a little.
"Yeah," she said and Buffy smiled.
"Cool." Buffy hesitated for a moment and then stepped closer. "Can I kiss you?"
Faith grinned.
"Gee, I don't know," she said and mock pretended she was thinking.
Buffy grinned and kissed her, startling Faith a bit.
Faith quickly responded.
"You know, the room service here is getting better and better," Buffy said, smiling, when they stopped kissing.
Faith smiled back and caressed her.
"Don't get used to it."
Buffy pouted.
"Why not?"
Faith sighed.
"Look, I don't want to piss off the manager. I mean, she's good, but if I start neglecting my duties, she'll get pissed. So when I'm working, treat me as a maid, okay? And don't call me here too often or people will get suspicious."
Buffy nodded.
"Okay." She smiled mischievously. "But I can steal a kiss, can I?"
"Only here. There are cameras all over the place and if Jim sees you kissing me or entering rooms where you have no business being, he might throw you out."
"Really?" Buffy asked, slightly worried.
"Yeah."
Buffy sighed.
"Okay. When you're out of this apartment… Okay, when you're working, I'll treat you as a maid."
Faith smiled, relieved.
"Thanks."
Buffy smiled mischievously.
"Can I treat you as a maid when you're off duty?"
Faith burst into laughter.
"You wish." She took a deep breath. "Look, I really have to go now. We'll talk more later."
"You can come here after you finish work," Buffy suggested.
"Nah, I have to go home. Mom's making lunch and Willow's driving with me."
"Oh. Oh! Why don't you come over for dinner?"
Faith blinked, startled.
"You sure?"
"Yes. I'm sure Mom and Dad would like to find out more about you. And Dawn as well. I mean, she's been bugging the hell out of me."
Faith smiled.
"Okay. But only if you come to my house for dinner tomorrow."
Buffy smiled.
"I'd love to, but Mom won't let me out without a bodyguard."
"Then bring the bodyguard as well."
"You sure?"
"Yeah."
Buffy smiled.
"Okay."
She hesitated for a moment and then kissed Faith again.
"I could get used to this," Faith said, making Buffy blush.
"Me too." She took a deep breath. "Come, let's tell my family that we're together."
"You sure?" Faith asked, suddenly nervous.
Buffy smiled.
"Absolutely."
Faith smiled and took her hand.
"Okay."
They went back to the living room.
"Mom, Dad, Dawn, Faith and I are together," Buffy declared as they entered.
Dawn squealed and Senator Summers and her husband raised their eyebrows.
"You are?" Senator Summers asked.
"Yes," Buffy said determinedly.
The Senator stared at them for a few moments and then sighed.
"Okay." She smiled. "Welcome to the family, Faith."
Faith blushed a bit, nervous.
"Thanks."
"She's coming over for dinner tonight," Buffy said.
"Okay."
"And I'm going over to her house tomorrow."
"Buffy…"
"I'm taking Barbara with me."
The Senator thought for a moment and then sighed.
"Okay."
Buffy smiled.
"Thanks, Mom." She looked at Faith. "I guess you have to go now."
"Yeah."
"Let me walk you out then."
Faith blushed.
"Okay." She looked at Buffy's family. "I'll see you tonight then."
"Yes," Senator Summers said.
"Come," Buffy said and led Faith to the suite door.
"Well, I'll see you later then," Faith said when they got to the door.
"I'll call you."
"Okay."
Faith hesitated for a moment and then turned to leave, but Buffy stopped her and gave her a kiss. Faith was startled for a moment and then responded.
When they stopped kissing, Buffy winked at her.
"So you'll remember me."
Faith blushed.
"Like I could forget." She smiled. "I'll see you."
"Definitely."
Faith smiled and left and Buffy closed the door.
"What?" Buffy asked when she saw everyone staring at her.
"You just kissed a maid," Jackson said.
"Her name is Faith and she happens to be my girlfriend."
"Your what?"
"My girlfriend. Want me to spell it for you?"
"But… But… She's just a maid."
Buffy blinked, slowly getting pissed.
"Your point?"
"You're a senator's daughter. What would people say when they found out you're dating a maid. A maid! A girl."
Buffy glared at him.
"Who I love is my business and my business alone. I've dated Riley because you wanted me to and let me tell you something. Riley may be rich and he may be the soon of a governor, but he's an asshole and he's not even half the man…" She trailed off when she realized she messed up. "Okay, you get my point. Not to mention that I don't like boys."
"But your mother's public image."
"What about it?"
"The people…"
"Jackson," Senator Summers interrupted him and he looked at her, startled.
"Senator?"
"Shut up."
Jackson blinked, surprised.
"I beg your pardon?"
"I said, shut up. If people won't elect me because Buffy is gay or because she is dating a maid, then I don't want to get elected. Is that clear?" she added when Jackson was about to protest.
"Yes, Ma'am."
"Good. I'd hate to repeat myself."
Jackson gulped, recognizing the treat.
"Yes, Ma'am."
Buffy smiled.
"Thanks, Mom," she said and went to her.
Senator Summers smiled back.
"As long as you're happy, honey," she said.
"Thanks," Buffy said and hugged her briefly.
The staff stared at them until they closed the door.
"Hmm, maybe we could use that to our advantage," Jackson wondered.
"Willow?" Faith asked when she got to the room where Willow was supposed to be.
"Bathroom!" Willow called and Faith went there. "What took you so long?"
Faith smiled widely.
"You're so not gonna believe this," she said and hugged her.
"What?" Willow asked, startled.
Faith let go of her.
"Remember Buffy?"
"Duh?"
Faith grinned.
"She's Senator Summers' daughter."
Willow blinked, surprised.
"She is?"
"Yeah. And Dawn, the girl I saved? She's her sister."
Willow frowned.
"The Senator's?"
"No, Buffy's."
Willow's eyes went wide.
"Really?"
"Yeah. And that's not all," Faith said, grinning. "Guess what, Buffy and I are officially a couple now."
"You are? I mean, that's great!" Willow said and hugged her.
"Thanks."
Willow let go of her.
"And it doesn't bother her that you're a maid?"
"No. Ain't that great?"
Willow smiled.
"Yes." She frowned. "Then who's Barbara?"
"Buffy's bodyguard."
"Oh."
"And guess what? Remember Riley?"
Willow thought for a moment.
"Who's Riley?"
"The guy I elbowed."
"Oh."
"He's Buffy's ex."
Willow blinked and then grinned.
"You're kidding."
Faith shook her head.
"No."
Willow laughed and then suddenly frowned.
"Does Buffy know?"
"Yes. And she's glad I elbowed him."
Willow's frown deepened.
"What do you mean?"
"She says she was dating him because her mom's campaign manager thought it would be good for the Senator's public image. She didn't like it and him being thrown out gave her a good excuse to break up with him," Faith said and Willow chuckled. "Ooh! They invited me over for dinner tonight."
Willow's eyes went wide.
"Really?"
"Yeah. And I invited Buffy over for tomorrow."
"Mom's gonna pass out."
Faith chuckled.
"Yeah." She took a deep breath. "So, what do I do?"
"Mom!" Willow called as she and Faith came home. "Mom!"
"Great," Faith murmured, rolling her eyes.
"In the kitchen, honey!" Mrs Spencer called.
"Mom, you're so not gonna believe this," Willow said as she and Faith entered the kitchen. "Remember Buffy? Faith's girlfriend?"
"She's a girlfriend now?" Mrs Spencer asked, amused.
"Yeah," Faith said, blushing.
"She's Senator Summers' daughter," Willow said.
"Really?" Mrs Spencer said, surprised.
"Yeah," Faith said.
"And Dawn, the girl Faith saved, she's also Senator Summers' daughter," Willow continued.
"Really?"
"Yeah," Faith said.
"And Faith is invited over for dinner tonight."
"You are?" Mrs Spencer asked.
"Yeah," Faith said.
"And Buffy is coming over for dinner tomorrow," Willow said.
"She is?"
"And Barbara, her bodyguard," Faith added.
"Oh." Mrs Spencer frowned. "Wait, you're dating Senator Summers' daughter?"
Faith and Willow laughed.
"Yeah, Mom," Faith said.
"And she's coming for dinner?"
"Yes."
"Oh lord."
"Take a deep breath, Mom," Willow said and Mrs Spencer took her advice. "That's better. Now, what's for lunch?"
"Huh?" Mrs Spencer said, startled.
"Lunch? We're hungry."
"Oh, yes, of course. Take a seat."
Faith and Willow chuckled and sat down.
When Faith got back to the hotel in the evening, she was a bit nervous, never having had dinner with any of her girlfriends' parents before, much less with a Senator.
When the elevator reached the top floor, Faith took a deep breath. She exited and went to the suite.
"Eh, I'm expected," she said when she reached the bodyguards.
"Go right in," one of them said.
Faith blinked, startled, and then entered. There was no one, but she heard voices coming from another room. She went to the door and knocked.
The noise stopped and then Buffy opened.
"Hey," she said with a smile and kissed her on the lips. "Come on in."
Faith entered, startled and nervous because of the kiss, and Buffy closed the door.
"Hi," Faith said, wondering what Buffy's parents thought.
"Hello, Faith," Senator Summers said with a smile. "Have a seat."
"Thank you," Faith said and sat.
After dinner, Buffy took Faith to her room.
"Did I pass?" Faith asked when Buffy closed the door.
Buffy smiled at her.
"With flying colors."
Faith smiled back.
"Good."
"Don't worry, I think you impressed them."
Faith raised an eyebrow.
"How did I do that?"
"You behaved like a… a lady."
Faith chuckled.
"Great. Mom's gonna be glad to hear that."
Buffy raised an eyebrow, amused.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. She insisted on teaching me and Willow how to behave like ladies."
Buffy chuckled.
"Looks like it paid off."
"Yeah," Faith said with a smile.
"Come, let's lay on the bed."
Faith raised an eyebrow, amused.
"Want me to sleep with you?"
Buffy grinned.
"Eventually," she said and Faith laughed. "Come."
Buffy lay on the bed and Faith joined her.
"Aren't you worried?" Faith asked after they stared at one another for a few moments.
"About what?" Buffy asked, startled.
"You know, about me bragging that I dated you or about me bad-mouthing you if things don't work out."
Buffy smiled.
"No."
Faith blinked, surprised by Buffy's confidence. Then she smiled a bit.
"Good."
Buffy smiled. She hesitated for a few moments and then caressed Faith's cheek.
Faith smiled.
"You know," she said, "I've never just lain beside a girl and talked. At least not with my clothes on."
Buffy smiled.
"Me neither."
Faith thought for a few moments.
"You really think this will work out?"
Buffy sighed.
"I hope so."
"Me too." Faith took a deep breath. "So, will you be able to find your way to my house or should I come pick you up?"
"We'll find your house. I sent Barbara out in the afternoon to locate it."
"Did she find it?"
"Yes."
"Good."
"Yeah. But I had to promise Mom that we won't be going out after dinner."
Faith smiled.
"Then I guess we'll just lie on the bed."
"And Willow?"
Faith shrugged.
"Don't know. She went out tonight and she might go out tomorrow. I don't know."
"Oh. We'll see then."
"Yeah."
They stared at one another for a few moments and then Buffy smiled.
"I could be like this forever," she then said, making Faith blush a bit.
"Me too."
When Willow came home, she went straight to Faith's room.
"How was it?"
Faith grinned at her.
"Cool. She said I impressed her parents with my lady-like behavior."
Willow burst into laughter.
"Right," she said as she sat on Faith's bed.
"I'm serious," Faith said and Willow stopped laughing.
"Okay. So, what did you talk about?"
Faith shrugged.
"They wanted to know more about me."
"Mmm, The Lives and Times of Faith Spencer."
Faith grinned.
"Yeah."
"And after the dinner?"
"We went to her room, lay on the bed and talked," Faith said and Willow burst into laughter again. "What?" Faith asked innocently.
"You lay on the bed?" Willow asked, grinning.
Faith grinned back.
"Yes. And no, we didn't have sex, we just talked. And kissed."
"That's more like it. Is she coming tomorrow?"
"Yeah."
"Nervous?"
Faith grinned.
"Yeah. I've never invited a girl over to dinner before."
Willow grinned as well.
"I know. You must really like her."
"Yeah. I'm actually in no hurry to get into her panties."
"Wow."
"Yeah, I know, it's unbelievable."
Willow chuckled.
"Yeah." She got up. "I'll go take a shower."
"Okay."
"Night."
"Night."
The next evening, Willow observed her mother and Faith as they prepared everything.
"I think it's a tie," she suddenly said, amused, and both her mother and Faith looked at her.
"What is?" Faith asked.
"Who's more nervous, you or Mom."
"Oh," Faith said and blushed a bit.
Willow smiled.
"Relax, you've already impressed her."
"But she's never been here."
"So? She's coming over as your girlfriend, not as a senator's daughter."
"Exactly!"
Willow chuckled.
"So you're saying you would've been more comfortable if it was the other way around."
"Hell yeah. I don't care about a senator, but I do care about her."
Willow grinned.
"She sure got you."
Faith smiled, blushing a bit.
"Tell me about it."
When Buffy and Barbara arrived to the Spencer house, Buffy hesitated for a few moments, nervous. Then she took a deep breath and rang the bell.
"I'll go!" Faith called when the bell rang.
Willow chuckled as she watched her run to the door.
When Faith got to the door, she stopped and took a deep breath to calm down. Then she opened it.
"Hey," Buffy said with a smile.
Faith smiled back.
"Hey. Come on in."
Buffy entered and Faith quickly kissed her. Then they stepped aside and let Barbara in. Faith quickly closed the door.
"This way," she the said and led the way, holding Buffy's hand.
"Hey," Willow said when they got to the living room.
"Hey," Buffy said.
Then Mrs Spencer came from the kitchen.
"Buffy, this is my Mom. Mom, these are Buffy and Barbara," Faith introduced them.
"Welcome," Mrs Spencer said.
"Hi," Buffy said and they shook hands.
"Nice to meet you."
Buffy smiled.
"Likewise."
Mrs Spencer then looked at Barbara.
"Hello."
"Ma'am," Barbara said and they shook hands.
"Come, sit down, dinner's ready."
"How was I?" Buffy asked after dinner as they disappeared into Faith's room.
Faith smiled.
"You did fine."
Buffy smiled back and then frowned.
"What about Barbara?"
Faith grinned.
"Trust me, Mom's gonna interrogate her for all she's worth."
Buffy chuckled.
"At least she won't be bored."
"Yeah." Faith hesitated for a moment. "Come, let's lie on the bed."
Buffy grinned.
"Okay."
"How did it go?" Willow asked the moment Faith closed the door after Buffy and Barbara left.
Faith chuckled.
"We lay on the bed and talked."
Willow burst into laughter.
"You lay on the bed?"
Faith grinned.
"Yeah."
"That's what, the second time?"
"Yeah."
"And you still didn't get laid."
Faith shrugged.
"I'm in no hurry."
"Right."
"I'm serious."
Willow raised an eyebrow.
"That's new."
Faith smiled.
"I know. So, what did you three do?"
"We talked. I tried to find out more about Buffy, but Barbara refused to talk about her. Even Mom couldn't get her to talk."
"Good. I like a little mystery."
Willow smiled.
"Feel like going out tonight?"
"Nah, I'll stay home. I'll be in my room."
"Mhm," Willow said, amused.
"Oh get your mind out of the gutter," Faith said and slapped her on the forearm.
Willow grinned.
"Look who's talking," she said and left.
Faith shook her head, amused, and went to her room.
Two days later, Senator Summers finally had to move on and Buffy called Faith to the Presidential Suite.
"Hey," she said when Faith entered her room.
"Hey."
Buffy sighed.
"We're leaving today."
"Yeah, I know.
Buffy, who was sitting on her bed, patted the space beside her and Faith sat. Buffy hesitated for a moment and then took her hand.
"Anyway, I talked to Mom and Dad about me transferring to your school."
"Yeah?"
"Yes. They weren't too happy about it at first, but I managed to convince them."
"You're transferring to my school?" Faith asked, excited.
Buffy smiled.
"Yeah. Now I only have to find a place to stay.""
Faith hesitated for a moment.
"You could stay with us, we have a spare room."
Buffy burst into laughter.
"I wish, but I don't think Mom and Dad would allow it." She blushed. "You know, me and my girlfriend in the same house…"
Faith grinned, blushing.
"I get it."
Buffy smiled.
"Good." Then her face became serious. "Anyway, since I'm probably not gonna see you again, I just wanted to say goodbye."
"Yeah, I figured."
"So, goodbye."
"Bye."
They stared at one another for a couple of moments and then Buffy leaned closer to Faith and they kissed.
"Damn, I'm gonna miss this," Buffy said when they stopped kissing.
Faith smiled.
"Me too."
Buffy smiled back.
"Yeah. okay, now go, I don't want you to get fired."
They got up.
"Me neither."
"I'll call you, okay?"
"Absolutely."
"Or you can call me, you know, if something interesting happens."
Faith smiled.
"Yeah."
Faith hesitated for a moment and then leaned in for another kiss. This time it was brief and when they stopped kissing, Faith touched Buffy's cheek with her palm.
"I love you."
Buffy smiled and covered Faith's hand.
"I love you too," she said and then let go of Faith's hand.
Faith smiled.
"Talk to you later."
"Absolutely," Buffy assured her.
Faith hesitated for a moment and then quickly left.
Buffy took a deep breath and plopped herself on the bed, already missing Faith.
