PEACEFUL AND PRIVATE
The property is a beautiful point of land which juts out into the river. Only one other dwelling is located on this beautiful 10 acre point which is at the end of state highway 665 now known as Mila Road. I live in the main house across the road year round to supervise the property.
The apartment has a second floor view straight out into Chesapeake Bay from the living room and one bedroom and a view across and up the Great Wicomico from the kitchen, bath and other bedroom. The cottage has one floor and is located on a high bank with views from the kitchen, living room, breakfast nook, and one bedroom across a half mile wide river.
There is a quarter mile of sand beach around the point. There is also a new dock by the old oyster house on the property with about 5-6 feet of water at the end. Isabel destroyed the decking of the dock. The beach and dock are both available for use by tenants.
The apartment has a gas heater in the living room and a gas cook stove in the kitchen. It is the original shopkeeper's quarters in an old steamboat store building built in the mid 1800s. The cottage has a high efficiency gas furnace and a gas cook stove. The apartment is the only part of the old store building which is occupied with the rest being used for storage of my personal items. The wiring and plumbing in the store building were renovated a few years ago. The cottage was renovated with modern wiring and plumbing in the 1980s. Both properties are usable all year but most comfortable during the spring, summer, and fall. Both are rented unfurnished. The furniture shown in the cottage pictures belongs to the current tenants. The floors in both properties are plank pine - narrow in the apartment and wide in the cottage. The walls in the cottage are painted sheetrock and paneling and, in the apartment, are masonite and sheetrock, also painted. There are telephone jacks and cable television connections in both properties.
The apartment rents for $350 per month and the cottage rents for $475 per month with the tenant responsible for all utilities and winterization. The cottage tenant is also responsible for grounds maintenance around the cottage which is minimal. These prices are for year long leases for and unfurnished properties.
