It's hard for me to write about myself or my work, so I had someone else do a write-up on me and my art. It was wonderful, but it just wasn't me. I'm not a great big deep thinker. I don't create work intended to send some kind of a social, political, or even moral statement; however, give me a soapbox and drop in a coin and I can spew rhetoric with the best of them. I simply paint out of passion.
I don't choose great world events, popular people, catastrophe, or spiritual objects for my work. I choose to illustrate those little everyday scenes of life, the faceless people we see daily; to lend them my playful take on life.
My goal through the use of color, texture, and structure is to create colorful works of art that are in many ways simplistic, yet sophisticated; playful, yet serious enough to provoke thought which leads to different interpretations. I try to be a "you fill in the blanks" painter. I love to listen to the many takes on my work. The more varied the interpretations, the better I did my job, which is to stimulate the viewer's imagination. I hope my latest works will do just that, and that they are enjoyed by those who view them.
