Palleranda

Pallaranda is THE place in Townsville to kitesurf. Just follow the Rowes Bay Road. There's nearly always someone flying. Shallow, and mostly sand bottom and onshore winds prevail.

Toolakea

More often than not, the winds are ideal medium strength by midday. The bottom is somewhat rocky at the southern (Townsville) end, though not sharp thank goodness, and the winds are mostly cross-shore. Turn left when you hit the Esplanade and fly at the northern end for no rocks at all.
