PARISThe Louvre Museum was just awesome. The history of the building itself...WOW! This former castle, of which you can see only one arm of a U shape, has been extended, and extended and extended over the centuries. You enter through the large pyramid, down an escalator and proceed through four levels, filled with antiquities, paintings, sculpture, antiques. We only had a couple of hours there unfortunately. I'm sure we could have spent two days there. The crowds were not as bad as expected, but then, it was the end of the tourist season . Mind you, there must have been over 50 people standing around the Mona Lisa, the only painting in the whole place that's behind glass. CLICK THE PIC FOR A BIGGER IMAGE. We didn't have the time or the inclination to fight our way through the hundred of Japanese tourists to try to get into the Notre Dame Cathedral, but as you can see below, it was mighty impressive just from the outside.
