Lesson No.______
Man is a tripartite being. He has three aspects of his being which are, the spirit, the soul, and the body (I Thes. 5:23). The spirit and the soul are inseparable but they can be separated from the body. The separation of the spirit and the body is called "physical death" (James 2:26). When the separation occurs, the spirit and the soul will remain conscious, but the body will gradually decay and be turned to dust (Ecclesiastes 3:20;12:7). A man who is physically alive, yet his spirit is not right with God is called in the Bible "spiritually dead" (I Tim. 5:6). The spirit of God regenerates a man's spirit at the point he believes in Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior (Eph. 2:1). When such happens, God's spirit will begin working and influencing the believer's life through his regenerated spirit (Romans 8:16).
