MY CREATIVE WORKS

WOLVES INFO

.

My name is Linden Gilbert. I was born in Montana, in a town on the Flathead Reservation. I recently moved from Santa Fe, New Mexico where I had been living since 1992, to the Tulsa, Oklahoma area. I am mixed blood Native American - Kootenai/Cherokee and Irish. I grew up in Los Angeles and the Southern California area, where I pursued a path of artistic experiment that eventually took me all over the country, and through several disciplines. One of these days I'll get a good photo of myself here so you can see what I look like, but for now, the promo image above will have to do.

Besides being an actor and director, I am a poet, writer, and theatrical and graphic designer. Until recently much of my work was with the Native students at the Institute Of American Indian Arts (IAIA) in Santa Fe, with their Playwright Development Program, the only one of its kind in the nation. Unfortunately, this program has now been cut by an administration that no longer has any interest in developing young Native talent, and is in the process of destroying the Institute, apparently with the idea to replace it with a purely vocational program. If you want to know more about this situation, CLICK HERE. Fortunately, the program's founder, William S. Yellow Robe, Jr., is now at the University of New Mexico and teaching again, and has started a Native Theater Company. Go to the WAKIKNABE THEATRE COMPANY pages for information on this.

About a year and a half ago I was sidelined by heart problems, requiring bypass surgery and extensive rehabilitation. To read about this in detail, go to the HEART PAGE. I now restrict my activities to Web Graphics and Site Design under the banner of HawkKiller Design Works.

NATIVE AMERICAN RESOURCES ON THE NET

Young Nez Perce Warrior, 1800'sThere are many Native resources on the Net, some on the Web, some in the newsgroups, some elsewhere. I have collected a number of these, by no means comprehensive, on the LINKS page. Some are resource links, some are informational. Many reflect the urgency of the current political and economic conditions of the tribes. One I especially recommend is the Leonard Peltier Defense Fund. Leonard has been a political prisoner for over twenty years, despite his innocence, the government's own admission of lack of evidence or contrary evidence, and the efforts of thousands of people. Get the FAQ, learn the truth, and do what you can. Clemency in 1999! You can find also find this link on the NATIVE AMERICAN LINKS page. Another site I recommend (and not just because I helped build it) is the Suicide Prevention and Crisis Intervention for Native Youth site put up by my friend Black Bear (Stephen LaBoueff). It's an important issue and worth a look.

MY WORK

You will find some samples of my graphic and web design work on the ART pages. I currently offer design services for web publishing as well as production design and general graphics in my business. As I mentioned, I am a poet and novelist; also on the Art pages are samples of my poetry. These will load into a new window. You may save the work for your own use, but all rights are retained and no commercial or public usage is permitted. If you are interested in anything commercially, send me an email!

ENJOY!
