There is no consultation fee for submitting an image to Artworks for the sole purpose of getting an estimate on the cost of having it made into a drawing, illustration or oil painting. You may submit as many images as you like, however please do not send huge files over the internet, either seperately or as a collection of images, as this will jam the mail server. If your image is huge please change it's size to something smaller, such as 40k. You may send more than one image if the total size of your e-mail is under 300k. If you're sending images on a 1.44MB disk, you may of course send as many as that holds. Please don't forget to specify what kind of art you're interested in having made, as without this information, I cannot not provide you with a price quote!
Once your e-mail or letter & disk arrive, you'll receive notice within a 7 working days, along with an estimate as to how much it would cost to have a piece of artwork created for you, and how long it would take to complete the work.
Price:
How much something costs depends on the subject matter, how big you want it made, and the medium in which you desire it to be rendered. Fees are based on the time it takes to complete a project, including materials and matts to frame drawings and other illustrations. A small 8 x 10 drawing for example, would not cost the same as an 18 x 24 oil painting. However a small painting, 8 x 10, could in some cases be less than a very large watercolor illustration.
Before any work is begun, Artworks must receive an initial down-payment amounting to 40% of the entire cost. This is to protect the artist, namely myself, Marie Haws, from wasting valuable time and supplies creating artwork for people who decide either not to pay their bills or who change their minds once a project as been started. In either event, this 40% sum will not be refunded. Payment can be made with either a personal cheque or money order, including International bank drafts; however if you send a personal cheque, no work will actually start until it clears through. Again, to protect myself from deadbeats.
Shipping and handling:
Artworks will ship to any address in North America or Europe. How much this costs depends of course upon where you live. Along with the estimate for the work itself, and depending upon how you want your item sent: first class mail, priority mail, or via a national courier such as Federal Express or UPS, you will be given a price quote for the shipping. All art will be carefully packed in sturdy boxes or stiff flat packages and sent immediately upon receipt of the final half of your payment.
Artworks is not responsible for any damages incured during shipping, or for lost or stolen packages. Preventing disgruntled employees from jumping up and down on your package is simply beyond my control. Sorry.
Artworks reserves the rights to refuse any submission, on the grounds of bad taste or poor reference quality or should the artist feel the project is too complicated to fullfill at this time. While nudity is acceptable, pornography is not, and so if you're looking for something "icky," keep surfing.
