The Many Meanings of Images

We each bring our own experiences and associations to an image. What do you think of when you see:

Swoosh Association 1 or
Swoosh Association 2?

Usually there is a common social experience so that we share similar associations to an image. However, even that can be uncertain. For example, consider:

Looks like an arm which will remind most people of

the box in their kitchen:popular baking soda brand

but if you study American history you might think of Daniel DeLeon's campaigns in the 1870s:

Daniel DeLeon's logo

When using images, it is good to be aware that not everyone will automatically "see" what you do.
