Until then, I'm just going to rant. If you're a glutton for punishment , you can read my latest complaints about the government in this country, especially those kooky Republicans.
Republican fascists promote child abuse. In several midwestern states they have actually passed a law stating that parents can "spank, switch, or belt" their kids in the name of discipline. There is also a mandatory curfew for minors. This rides on the wake of the Columbine tragedy and the lawmakers scurrying to look like they're trying to end kid violence. Ok, the Repubs who passed the bill think that kids who can get smacked, whipped with a stick or a heavy metal buckle, and can get arrested for hanging out with friends after sunset, is going to make them more disciplined and well adjusted? Instead of feeling hurt, vilified, and alienated by society, just as the Columbine shooters did? Do the congresspeople who want to make it easier for parents to abuse their kids realize that thousands of children are killed by adults in child abuse cases? Would they consider this a disturbing trend in an adult violence, and try to blame various industries for it?
Disgust at Democrat Dick Gephardt for cowardly caving into prejudice of a certain Jewish organization.
Coming soon are opinions on anti-flag burning amendments, proposals for the budget surplus, gun controls, the new health care proposals, government-led days of prayer, anti-gay movements, and all sorts of fun stuff.
Also a defense of feminism and a big question/article about slavery in Africa, especially that which stems from the horrendous civil war and genocide in the Sudan. So much worse than Kosovo yet the US gov't makes not a peep.
I love this Industrial Revolution-era poster, "Pyramid of the Capitalist System." Certainly it is not as true now as it was during the period that created it, but it still deserves a good look. (click for larger version)
