The Forest of Awareness
Running.
I find myself running through this wonderful forest. My companion, Ophelia, keeps up with me easily despite my gradual increase in speed. When she cannot move her feet fast enough she simply takes wing. The grass, moss and leaves underfoot are so soft and springy that I run seemingly without effort. The air becomes a breeze blowing my hair back as I move. I notice, as I run, that the trees seem to move away from me and reach out to me at the same time. Big branches with hard knots move out of my path while small thin branches reach out to touch me. They never quite touch me but seem to be sweeping through my aura as I pass. From their touch I am fed the thoughts of the forest, from the tallest trees down to the smallest toadstool. The forest itself takes joy in my joy, which in turn increases my joy. But I soon learn that too much of anything can be dangerous. My heart pounds within my chest, unable to contain the elation coursing through me. My eyes are open so wide I swear they are about to fall out of the sockets. The grin on my face stretches my mouth so far my lips begin to crack. In a moment my brain is overwhelmed and I lose consciousness in mid stride. |
