Mt. Adophael

Flying swiftly over the land.  Brief visions of many forests, many lakes, rivers and streams, many expanses of grassland, many deserts.  The mountain ranges grow ever higher as we fly to the center, and at last we begin to see The Mountain in the distance.  Hazy and indistinct at first, it quickly grows into enormity.  This is the biggest mountain we have ever seen, far bigger than we thought possible.  Its lower slopes seem to grow out of the tops of mountains, that through they appear small in comparison, are actually giants of their kind.  Strangely, the mountain is not entirely covered by snow.  Nor is its snow cover laid out in a predictable manner.  Rather than clinging to the summits, the snow appears to cover random places all over the mountain.  Likewise, the areas of forest, grass, and bare rock, are scattered throughout the mountain, even up towards the top.  It is clear that the mountain and its weather do not follow what you know of the laws of nature.

Our path takes us down to a place where two of the extensive mountain ranges meet, towards the center of the land.  Here you see that Mt. Adophael actually extends down to the land itself, as if it were the first mountain and the ranges grew up around it later.  As we land, you find yourself in a garden like place.  A soft carpet of spongy moss covers an area roughly the size of a football field.  Around the edges of this field are a wide range of plants, each bearing its own fragrant flowers.  Small birds and bats flit through out the plants, dining on the nectar of the flowers.  Other small animals thrive in the shade provided by the plants.

In the center of the far edge of the field there is a break in the plant wall.  Stone steps lead up to a large, arched opening.  On each side of the steps are six gargoyles.  Three are carved in pure white quartzite and three are carved in pure onyx.  Above the arched opening is the figure of an angel, sculpted of both quartzite and onyx.  She holds a rainbowed sphere in one hand, and a sword in the other.  One hand and foot are clawed, while the others are pure and softly beautiful.  Her face and hair are split into white and black stone.  Her eyes are pure emerald, her lips rubies.  She is dressed in a transparent robe that flows down from her arms, and around her shoulders and waist, concealing nothing.  All figures are still, and literally stone.

They are, however, alive

This is the gateway to the City of Sparkling Gray.  Those who enter this gate are borne up through the rock and soil, to the city that lies half way up to the summit.  It is a city of wonder.  Streets paved with alabaster, houses built of quartz, citrine, amethyst, lapis lazuli, and other precious crystal.  Parks and plants abound through out the city.  It is a city of pure balance.  It is here that the Mylem receive their training.

Only a being that is neutral, or heading towards neutral on an upward path, can enter the gateway to the city.  All others are rejected.  The gargoyles are the first line of defense, awakening and destroying any creature of darkness that attempts to enter.  The neutral angel is the second line of defense, coming to life to prevent the entrance of any too well steeped in the light.

There is a way for all however.

Should a being of darkness truly wish to visit the City of Sparkling Gray, there is a path.  To the right of the gateway there is a small opening  in the plant wall.  This leads into the darkness.  Standing outside, there is no way to see where the path goes.  Only by entering can one see.  This path takes you up Mt. Adophael.  It winds around the mountain seven times before reaching the City.  As one walks this path, they will encounter situations and beings designed to test and refine a beings spiritual nature and understanding.  Thus, a being of darkness that takes this path, will most likely begin to travel towards the light internally, if they are able to continue.  Should a being reach the city without changing.  Should a being of darkness reach the City still in darkness, it will not be able to enter.  The city itself will reject any whose energy and nature is more than half way to the darkness or light from true neutral.  Only those with the required degree of neutrality can enter.

Of the trials and tests on this path, I will tell you nothing.  Revealing them before facing them is detrimental to the development of the being.

Let us now enter the gateway and rise up to the City of Sparkling Gray.

The City
