TallerSur Tapestry Workshop was founded by Ivan Sartor in 1976 at Montevideo, Uruguay. The objective of this center was organize the emergent movement of fiber art artist throughout the country.
Through seminars, classes, and national exhibitions this center helped to project the textile art movement to international horizon. By '78 several artist participated in exhibitions in Europe and New York , and today artist like Ernesto Aroztegui, Jorge Soto, Nazar Kazanchian are well known in international event like, Sao Pablo Biennial and Lodz Triennial.

The objective is to create a "virtual workshop" where serious students can progress to professional levels as skilled weavers and fiber art artists.

This classes approaches weaving by guiding the students through the weaving of a sampler, divided in ten section. A the beginning of each section the student is provide with general direction for weaving the particular example and step by step of how to execute the technique.
