I'd thought I should exercise my creativity today and think about things that were out of context. And I thought, 'why don't ever watch TV outside?'.

For an instant, I had thought I had pierced some immense unsaid mindset that could speak volumes about us, as modern people, until I realized that it wasn't an issue of custom or mindset.  We watch TV inside because the diffuse nature of sunlight would make it difficult to see out of doors.

TV:
You have to be kept in the dark to see it.
