Today I learned from an article in Slate that MTV has risen the bar of corporate consumer madness with their new site, Cool Crap. During the Cool Crap program, when music videos are shown they are accompanied by text rolling at the bottom of the screen that inform the viewer of what items in featured in the video they can buy if they go to the Cool Crap web site. So, if you like the groovy shirt owned by say, Will Smith, you can just saunter to the Cool Crap site and place a bid on it. Now I don't know what's stranger: the fact that this sort of thing exists or the fact that Suck predicted just this sort of program all of two years ago. |
