Today I went to the local rep movie house and enjoyed a Bugs Bunny Film Festival.

Remember the Bugs Bunny cartoon in which Bugs is a vaudeville MC in the wild west and Yosemite Sam is just dying to see the high-diving act and when the guy doesn't show, Yosemite forces Bugs to do the act instead?

Well, in this cartoon... oh heck, I'll just pilfer this from the online transcript...

Bugs has set up a doorway. Sam pounds on the door furiously.
    "Open that door! Open up that door!"
     And to the audience, "You notice I didn't say Richard."

And the audience (well at least me) said, "huh?" And then I had a jolt of memory and recalled driving with friends and listening to campus radio and hearing an amusing ditty that went...

"Open the door, Richard./Open the door and let me in./Open the door, Richard./ Richard why don't you up that door."

It's done by Count Basie.
Bugs Bunny co-exists with Count Basie on the same plane.

That just strikes me as odd because I've watched so many Warner Brother cartoons as a kid I've adopted them into my timesphere.

It's so easy to forget that the best of the Bugs Bunny cartoons were created in the late forties and early fifties.
