I just rented a movie. The Matrix, actually. No, this isn't an Epinion. The thought that I would like to share has nothing to do with the movie: Have you noticed that now, since the entertainment giants are promoting DVD systems, that promos now refer to videos as 'videocassettes'? It's such a subtle bit of wordplay. Renting a video is ok, but videocassettes have now suddenly become gauche. It's like, videocassettes.... eww! You wouldn't listen to your favourite music on a cassette, would you? Incidentally, I just bought two used music cassettes this weekend for half the price of one new CD. I'll let you know when I get my new DVD player. |
