Way back in October 1999, I made a plea to citizens of cyberspace (they actually did call it cyberspace back then) to identify the pruner of these trees.

Memepool recently came to the rescue.

I now know that the objects of my admiration were Axel Erlandson's Circus Trees.

Once I knew their names, finding more information about these marvelous objects was a cinch.

Just like using a dictionary, its difficult to search the Internet if you don't know the name of what you are looking for.

Another example: I have a growing fascination for the electrical towers that straddle our landscape like giants and yet are largely ignored by the eye. Not long ago, I tried searching the web for some frivolous information about such creatures but couldn't dig up a thing.

I've since learned from the latest issue of The Whole Earth Review, that steel towers supporting high tension wires are called pylons and Pylon of the Month was the site that I was looking for.
