The next image was seen in a magazine, and then sketched to pass the time. It's a three part image about moving up in rank. You can see the soldier sewing on his new stripes and checking how they look in the mirror. In the top left hand corner you can see that my grandfather wrote "The Sad Sack-". Perhaps his fellow soldier whose nickname was "Sad Sack" moved up in rank, or wished he could!
Here is a sketch in which the annotation explains it well. "Ships Sunk Out Side Bougie Harbor". Remember, this was like a photograph, sketched as seen.
This picture is marked "Water supply for Constantine and our position". There are two other markings on this image which are illegible, and probably don't even show up on the computer. However, in the background behind the water supply house to the right is a black image which would be a 20 millimeter anti-aircraft gun.
The last depiction on this page is a bit humorous...not because it's annotated as "Our Latrine on Jetty", but because there's a soldier drawn right in with it! In the upper right hand corner, you can see the buildings of a village...this is marked "Bougie".
