Talkers.

Once upon a time long long ago...I walked among the normal people..I was nice, I was sweet, I didn't have a clue what :P~ stood for...I didn't know what a snog was, and I sure hadn't been net.shagged. Then one day I walked into our public library..this icon for knowledge and s-m-r-t'ness.. and there they were...three brand new computers just blinking innocently at me. It was May 30, 1995...and never shallt I forget the day. This was the day our sleepy library had decided to become a Library of the Future. They'd gotten hooked up with the Internet.

I started out at a webchat, Kajen, but THEN one day I was introduced to telnet talkers, and my life has never been the same since. (Namely, I no longer have much of an irl life ;)

Cirrus Nebula. I _love_ this place. By the time I'm finished with this page, I will have spent over 70 days there. This wasn't my first talker, but it's the one I've really taken to my heart. There I have some of my best friends, and no, I won't just say they're net friends, they're my FRIENDS, and I've had the good fortune to meet a small number of them. The people in charge of it's also made the strange choice of putting me as a staff member there, which in my opinion has been one of the best things to ever happen to me. I'm proud that they took a chance with me despite me not being the most skilled internet person, and I would like to think that I'm appreciated there. or maybe they chose me just coz I'm so damn pretty ;)

Resort *laugh* This talker is..I'm there very rarely, mostly when I need a good laugh. No, it isn't populated by comedians, but the idiotic sexual come on's are just SO hilarious. Unfortunately the poor harrassers easily get scared off by me. I still don't get it, they wanna have net.sex with me, but then they can't stand a friendly li'l interrigation? Dammit.

My Aliases

deanna - yes, all in lowercase. It's after Counsellor Deanna Troi on ST-TNG and no I don't look like her or have a fetisch for her. I chose the name simply because my first webchat had a channel called The Star Trek Channel and I wanted to fit in. The name really stuck, as evident of my email address deanna@kajen.com . I even had a nifty little sign to use as an icon with deanna boucing onnit. Please note that IT IS NOT MY IRL NAME. Dont' do as many have before you, assume that ti si coz of my e-mail address. My real name is Jennie. Deal with it.

aLanis - typed just like that. This is to encourage people to use nicks' for me like Lani etc etc, coz I outgrew the name quite quickly. When I first tried out a telnet talker I used the name Vampyra. However, the telnet talker thing didn't catch on with me at first, and so I quickly forgot all about it. The next time I logged on I wanted to use my irl name Jennie, but it had already been taken, and so I was stuck trying name after name (Razor, Sunshine, Lestat etc etc etc), and finaly I gave in when I tried Alanis and got in.

The reason I chose alanis is SIMPLE. Alanis M. had released her cd Jagged Little Pill two months earlier (this was in -95), and at the time I thought she was really cool. However....I moved on. The name stuck.

Anyways..til I actually think of something else to say here..be warned..if you're tempted to try a talker, and never have..they're STRONGLY addictive, and you can stumble upon perverted disgusting nasty mean people like..like..ME.
