Fanciful Pins
These are some of my first pieces using polymer clay ~ 1995
This is a series of pins I did using "Scupley Clay" (a
basic plain white clay.)
I rolled the clay out and just cut some shapes in it until I found a few that I liked.
Each piece was painted and decorated with various beads. I've since learned that
"Scupley" is not a good clay for this project, the clay is just not strong
enough,
it's better for mold making. The first pin has a tiny corner broken off it.
The first one and the second one I made some textured areas using the
end of a
large knitting needle, they are suppose to to look like beaten metal. The third one
I used a button to make the texture in the clay.
Medusa '95
I wanted to create a Medusa that didn't look too scary. My husband
says
that she looks "Surprised" to him. I used one of the PC face molds for this
face.
Again this was using "Scupley Clay". There are 3 different colors of the snakes.
I created several face pins at this time but most of them broke
the noses off under
normal wear, the clay just wasn't strong enough.
Gold Pin ~ 1998 Black pin ~ 1998
These pins is made using one the shapes from above but it is made
with Scupley III Clay, decorated with a real crystal, leather scrapes, and feathers.
The Black pin is actually smaller then the Gold one
