March of the Living 1999 Diary
April 13, 10:55 PM
We’re finally at the hotel. All I can say is that it took long enough! Anyway, we had our first good meal since Sunday evening. It was kuskus (sp?) with vegetables, potatoes, and some veal. It was pretty good. I ate two pieces of veal, because one thing I’ve learned in the past 2 days is that you never know what you’re going to be served next.
On the bus we had a sing-along, kind of. In other words, David sang and completely mangled the songs and we all tried to keep up. It was fun, though, because we’re all pretty tired.
I forgot to mention before that I took two small rocks from Auschwitz (just inside Auschwitz I). I don’t know what I’m going to do with them, but I want them nonetheless.
It’s funny, kind of. I really haven’t taken that many pictures (I think about 22), but I’ve written so much! Even looking back, I’m shocked. At this rate I might not have enough room for the rest of Poland, let alone the rest of the March. I’ve thought it, and I guess I’ll write it: Other people take image- pictures. I take word-pictures. I don’t judge which is better, I only know what works for me.
I had some hot chocolate and spilt almost all of it. Oh well. I’ll have tomorrow morning, I guess.
Now I see that I’ve gotten to the point of rambling, so I’ll say good night and until tomorrow.
