To make the game more interesting, and a little easier, Giana can achieve special powers. Hidden in some chosen stars-covered blocks are magical items providing skills that will help her get through her journey. To receive these supernatural skills, jump into the selected blocks, and when the items pop out, run into them. The items appear in a special order:

WHEEL OF FIRE

~ morphs the innocent Giana into a punk, enabling her to crush stones with her new punky hairdo

SINGLE LIGHTENING

~ Giana can send lightening ball towards her enemies, killing most of them

DOUBLE LIGHTENING

~ The lightening balls rebounce off walls

STRAWBERRY

~ The lightening balls aim directly at their enemies

WATCH

~ Freezes the enemies for a certain period of time when you press spacebar

BOMB

~ Kills all enemies on the screen when you press spacebar

DROP OF WATER

~ Giana gets soaking wet, and fire won't harm her

LOLLIPOP

~ Gives Giana an extra life

Once you've completed this sequence, you start over again with the watch. If you use the watch or the bomb, you get that one more time before continuing with the next. If Giana dies, all her special powers are removed.

The main goal of the game, is getting through all the levels. But, once you've completed it a couple of times, this gets kind of boring. So, to keep the game interesting, there's also the challenge of achieving the most points. In order to do so, you must:

Jump into blocks from beneath

Break walls of stone

Kill enemies

Collect diamonds

Enter secret bonus-levels

Complete levels as fast as possible
