Samuel Uttley -- 1837-1921

Samuel Uttley was born December 23, 1837 in Norfolk, England the son of William and Ann (Girling) Uttley. He had two brothers, Nathan and Jonathan, who came to Canada about the same time as Samuel in 1856. He also had 9 other brothers and sisters in England.

Samuel married Mary Baxter Taylor in 1862 in Guelph. They had seven children, most born in Elmira, Waterloo County. Samuel worked as an engineer and fireman throughout Waterloo County and nearby areas.
