This Happy Hour is probably the only one in LA that could
give Chicago or DC a run for its
money, i.e. lawyers and businessmen getting sloshed off their asses at 6 PM. Happy Hour
starts
at a generous 3:30 PM, although there is only one drink special, the $4.50 Monster
Margarita.
You should also try a martini from the menu or the house black-and-tan, the S&M (Sam
Adams
and Murphys Irish Stout). Drink prices are not the reason to go, beer goes for $4.50
and
cocktails are $5 and up. But the place is packed every day by 5:30 PM because all the
appetizers
on the menu cost just $1.95. The bartenders, Fred, Hal & Cecilia are pros.
Theyre friendly, mix
a nice drink, and are fun to try to confound with obscure drink orders. Regulars find
themselves
on the receiving end of every Guinness that gets mistakenly poured. Every so often they'll
set a
few strange-looking drinks down and say, "if you guys want 'em..." Sure, why
not. By the time
9 oclock rolls around on a weeknight youll look at the young accountants
stumbling around in
their short skirts and wonder if these people are really going to make it to work the next
day.
