Important Questions What are your three most important reasons for wanting to be a teacher? First of all, as a teacher, I would like to help young students succeed not only in their academic career, but also prepare them so they may become active citizens of the world. Secondly, teaching is a very rewarding and positive career, and these I feel, are two views teachers must have to create enthusiasm for learning in their students. Third, I know I have the personality and skills, such as patience and creativity necessary to be a teacher. What do you need to know in order to begin your lesson planning for a class? I want to know as much as possible about my students to best suit their learning styles and personalities. I would also need a clear understanding of the state/national standards and how they are incorporated into the curricula. I would need to determine how to assess the objectives for the lesson so that the assessment fits the standards. I would like to anticipate any problems that may arise in the teaching of the lesson so that I can be flexible and well prepared. What four key components do you believe you muct includ in your lesson plans? I believe the four key components to a lesson are as follows: 1. Clearly defined objectives alligned with state and national standards 2. Tasks that engage students actively in learning 3. Formal or informal assessments that monitor understanding 4. Opportunitiy for reflection by teacher and students. |
