OPINION04/03/2002I think all of the opinions I've written so far have dealt with the Middle East. This one will be no different. Since the last time I wrote, the conflict has continued to worsen. The rate of retaliations from both sides continued to increase towards the boiling point. Well, the pot has boiled over and there is nothing short of an all out war inside Israel/Palestine. Is there any hope for peace left? Well, there is always hope, but its not in sight. How can this violence end? Where will it lead too? How will it affect the United States? Those are some questions I think about daily and find it hard to find answers. The world pleas for an end to violence, yet it doesnt happen. It's sad to watch innocent people die every single day on the news. It's hard for Americans to comprehend this violence because we live in such a different world. In our world, we fear terrorism, yet don't have to worry about being blown up at the bar on the weekend or at the supermarket buying groceries(Israel). Most of us don't worry where the next meal is coming from or whether we'll be allowed to travel the roads to work each day(Palestine). I believe the violence will not end, and only intensify into a larger regional/international conflict. The only possible way to stop this violence is if armies/political leaders from around the world PHYSICALLY go to the conflicts and end it themselves. Both of these countries do not believe a peaceful coexistence is possible. The international communinity needs to get their asses in there if they really want to end the violence. Words and pleas can do nothing at this point. ...8^)...Ev ...EvEvan Lowery |
