Grand Rapids, Michigan - Feb. 21, 1999
I just moved here. My first few days would be at Motel 6 waiting for my condo to be finished (I am the first renter). I start my new job and new life on the 22nd.
Bloomfield Hills, Michigan - April 18-23, 1999
My first on-site training with my Boss Kristine, she was kinda fun. We ate VERY well and had some good laughs. She would announce that she is quitting a week later...everyone blamed me.
Chicago, Illinois - June 7-9, 1999
This trip was for the "NeoCon" convention. What a blast! My first trip to Chicago and I had so much fun. Needless to say I did not get much sleep and drank WAY to much. We closed a few bars on that trip! "We" being me, Jan, John & Micheal. Ask me about the Coke can. I didn't get to see many sites in the area but I did manage to have some fun with my co-workers.
Des Moines, Iowa - June 20-25, 1999
My first trip to Iowa and what can I say? They like corn and pigs. The downtown area is very nice and similar to Grand Rapids. I had a fun time here with Jennifer (co-worker). We saw some sites and ate at some very nice resturants.
San Jose, California - July 17-23, 1999
My first trip to California and I spent a full day in the San Francsico area. What great time! Let's see, visited the Cliff House, ate lunch in Sausalito on the bay, walked in the Pacific Ocean, drove those crazy streets in San Fran., got a ticket for running a red light ($271.00), drove over the Golden Gate twice and over Tampalis Mt. to see the Muir Woods Redwoods, saw Moffet field where Space Camp is, walked the pier close to Alcatraz and so much more. I also spent an afternoon driving the steets of the Silicon Vally's San Jose. The weather was great! No humidity 60's in the morning and high 70's in the afternoon. Of course, everything cost an arm and a leg but, ah well. What a trip! I even saw the Monte Bello Ridge! No earthquakes while I was there, maybe next time!
Milwaukee, Wisconsin - August 9-11, 1999
Not a bad place to visit. Drove around alot downtown. Went and found Harly-Davidson, Miller beer and Pabts Blue Ribbon beer Headquarters. No time for tours. Very nice weather for the trip. The State fair was going on but I was unable to go. I ate at some very nice resturants. Went to the Lake and found a huge wood sailing ship under construction which was cool.
Kansas City, Missouri - August 20-22, 1999
Drove through St. Louis to visit a friend for the weekend. 15 hours of drive time there. It was alot of fun.
Los Angeles, California - September 9-18, 1999
Hollywood baby! Wow! What a fun place! Universal Studio's! Santa Monica and the Pacific Ocean, the Hollywood walk of fame, Beverly Hills and LA! I tried to do it all but, that's not possiable. Let's see, I saw Stevie Wonder and Booger (from "Revenge of the Nerd's") at Jerry's diner. I ate at a lot of great places and a few bad one's. Then, the mother load... I saw a UCLA game at the ROSE BOWL! I could only stay till half-time but, it was AWESOME! Of course, the weather was great until the last day... kinda cold. Felt like home. Again, no earthquake. I'm beginning to think they are an urban legend.
Richmond, Virginia - September 28 - October 1, 1999
A lot of history here. What a cool place. Visited the Capitol, went to the Interior Design Expo and a lot of bars. Drove to Norfolk to see Chesapeake Bay and the U.S.S. Rosevelt aircraft carrier. Of course, it rained alot. The aftermath of Hurricane Floyd.
Cedar Rapids, Iowa - October 10 - 14, 1999
Back to Iowa!! The city of five smells... er... seasons. Fun town, went and saw the "field of dreams movie site". I also was stalked by a little old lady who thought I was "Brian". I didn't get a chance to do to much else on this trip. However, I did visit the Czech villiage. Over all it was a fun.
Sacramento, California - October 16 - 18, 1999
Didn't really do anything here but drive around downtown. Fires to the north kept everthing in a haze. So I stayed inside. The TV news guy said "don't breath unless you have too".
San Jose, California - October 19 - 20, 1999
Visited the Tech Museum. The Sharks played Detroit in Detroit so I couldn't go to a hockey game.
Fountain Valley, California - October 24 - 29, 1999
I stayed dormant until Friday. On Friday I went to San Diego and saw the "Star Wars" exihbit. That was cool. Then I went to the beach for a few hours somewhere south of L.A. The best part was the earth tremor I missed, dammit! next time!
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - October 31 - November 5, 1999
I never got the chance to go downtown. Hopefully next time. I was actully west of town near Vally Forge. I just hung out at the hotel and local mall.
Boise, Idaho - -November 10 - 13, 1999
GREAT PLACE! I loved it there. I got to stay friday night and went out on the town with some students. We had a blast dancing and drinking. The whole experience was great, just too short! I would have liked to stay and see a Boise State football game but, they played too late for me on Saturday.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin - December 01-03, 1999
Had a great trip! Saw a few movies, had a student take me to a great resturant called Gil's. Having been here not to long ago I didn't do any sight seeing.
Boston, Massachusets - December 12-16, 1999
All the history, our American roots and what do I do? I go to the "Cheers" bar! If I had gotten out there a day sooner I would have seen the Red wings play the Bruins. Well anyway, it rained/sleeted in the afternoons so I didn't get to see much else. I did try walking around but the weather just sucked. Great place! I can't wait to go there again and see more History.
