Titanic

With a touch of your hand, you bid me so long;
Your lips lingered on mine in a frantic attempt to stop fate,
To find one last hope of escaping the unsinkable.

I looked in your eyes for one last time,
Their blue irises reflected the waves of the ocean,
Thief of your heart,  thief of my love.

I sat motionless,
Oblivious to the scent and sound of death surrounding me,
Wishing i was still with you on board,
In your arms, waiting...

With my eyes closed,
I saw it slowly  disappear,
Taking you with it on its final sail,
Down to the heart of the ocean.

I looked for you, Love, through the still waters,
Desperately searching among thousands of fear-striken faces,
Wanting to see the smile that, years ago,
Captured my lonely heart.

I listened for your voice, Love,
A voice whose songs captured my mind,
But all i heard were unheard cries of despair,
Calls for help echoed solely by the silent voice of doom.

I stared at the water;
I saw your eyes staring back at me.
Silently I willed you to defy destiny,
To survive or to come back for me.

For my heart had already joined yours
In the Paradise under the sea.
