It's 8.20 pm on a Sunday night. Tchaikovsky's Pathetique Symphony is playing on CD. There's a melody in the 1st movement that I particularly like. It's very passionate, kind-of bitter-sweet and emotional.
It has been a very unexciting day for me. I made the small mistake of not being adventurous today. Anyway, I shall not bore you with anymore complaints.
Over the last one week or two, I came across two very interesting articles in the Star. One was written by a man who has breast cancer and the other was news about a lady teacher who raped a young male student (the student was a minor and therefore, it was not actually rape in the 'traditional' sense). I'm sorry that these examples are not exactly of the same context. They're just examples for me to use in the following paragraphs.
I guess this proves, up to a certain extent, that there's always the other side of the coin to consider. There always seem to be an opposite to everything. However, the two cases mentioned earlier seem to lean more on the issue of gender. Therefore, I think it's quite true that there's a certain amount of the opposite sex in everyone of us and that the world is catholic (with a small 'c').
While I'm on the issue of gender, why do you think God created the female and male species? Did God made them to be equal? If He did, then why did He bother making two species? Wouldn't one species suffice since they are suppose to be 'equal'? Then, there's this hoo-haa of the 'battle of the sexes' - which sex is better, and so on.
I think God did not create us female and male so that we can fight over which sex is 'better'. On the contrary, I believe the reason He did so was for us to compliment each other. What is supposedly 'lacking' on one sex will be made up by the other. That way, we are always interdependent on each other. That's where community building, peace and harmony come in.
With that, I shall leave you for the time being. Until then, take care and God bless.
Sincerely in the Lord,
Bart
