Your friend asks you over to there house in order to play a "new game" he found in his attic. You both take it out of the box (let's say it's an old Parker Brothers board, the type with rounded corners, and a metal needle in the plancette), and set it up. You put a candle on the right, and a candle on the left. Now you rest your finger tips lightly on the planchette, and they do the same.
The first thing the board does, is goes to "No" then over to "Goodbye". Should you be persistant, or should you put it away for now?
Too bad it's not that easy... What the Spirit/Demon/Entity might be saying is "I am busy, and have no time to talk", or they might be trying to discourage you from using a board. Or, one "person", might be trying to cut you off from others.
You need to remember those key points, and treat the situation accordingly. If they give you a reason, then treat the situation with their wishes.
You and a friend are on the board. Your friend starts questioning everything the "being" says. The planchette starts moving in a clockwise pattern, very fast. What do you do? Is anything wrong?
Something is very wrong when the "being" you are talking too starts moving the planchette like this. It means he is aggravated, which means you should ask your friend to listen, rather than to talk. Some people will do this without thinking, because it's new to them. Others will do it, to try to prove the "being" wrong, or to say "I am better than you.".
Don't let it happen on your session. If it's a small guy, he's just going to be pissed, if it's a large guy, you might just find out the meaning of the word "frightened". Don't let them do it.
