My mother's mother was born on May 2, 1921. Her name was Marg to those who loved her. She was a nurse and she loved to dance. She married my Grandfather on June 15,1945. My mother was her 6th child. She gave birth to 3 more happy babies after that. I am one of her 17 grandchildren. My Grandmother died on January 8, 1998 at the age of 76. She had cancer of the bladder. My cousin and I read a poem at her funeral, it was titled "Remember me but let me go." That was the hardest thing I've ever had to do.
My father's mother was born on Dec 16, 1914. Her name was Janet, Jan to those who loved her. She married in 1941 and had 3 beautiful baby boys. My dad was her second son. I am one of her 8 grandchildren. Janet didn't smoke, swear, and she went to church regularly. My Grandmother died on April 30, 1995, she was 80. She had breast cancer.
My sister's best friend was born on June 21, 1980. Her name was Jamie. We would go and play like little kids do. One day Jamie went to the hospital for a ear and head ache. She came back with leukemia. During her illness she volunteered at the hospitol and continued to go to school. Thanks to the Make-A-Wish foundation, Jamie and her family went to Disney World where she forgot for a moment that she was dying. Jamie died on November 14, 1994. She was only 14. She brought us much happiness and laughter.

The Canadian Cancer Society was holding it's annual fundraiser in October and I decided to help. I raised $420 in a matter of hours. A couple of days later a lovely lady from the Green Apple Salon cut, buzzed and shaved my hair off. I think there were a total of 87 people who shaved their heads for Cops for Cancer in the Red Deer area that month. October is Cancer Awareness month.
I didn't chop off the picture, my hair just couldn't fit in the frame. Notice the change in the smile. :-)
