This teepee is of more for the flat land indians.
Our lodge homes were made of redwoods and
ferns so as to keep the rain out. I will try to find
a photo to put on here.

I am a Yurok native from the  Klamath Glen area.
Here is a sunset from my home town in
Crescent City, California just 30 miles north of the Glen.

These are the pride of natives in our area.
The Redwoods are used for many things,
the roots make a dye for basket makings,
canoes for fishing and lodges for living &
sweat houses. Once you see one you will
never forget it.

As promised here is a pic of one of our lodges.
This is the back side with 2 little Yurok girls playing.
It isn't much to look but it was called home by
some. Inside was decorated with family hand me
down's and keep sakes.

My name is Mary, I am known as Indian gal by my friends. I live in
Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. I was born in Crescent City, California in 1959.
Most of my family still lives there. My sister Wanda & her husband
have a casino there called Elk Valley Casino.
It is sad but most of our culture is almost lost
due to the children not learning there native tongue. I feel that in that area it should be taught to our children who are our future and
heritage.
On the rest of my page's I will show some pic's of my family and
basket's that have been done by some elder's & some interesting
links.
