December 3, 2004 Thanksgiving was great, I made the pumpkin pie & friend the spring rolls! Now am frantically working on finishing my Christmas on time. Quite determined that all we be done by my birthday. I'm finishing the last of my online shopping as we speak. I just need to pick up one additional gift, which I'll get tomorrow. And then crochet & knit like mad to get everything done. Hope to finish by December 10, get everything mailed by the 17th. Check out my progress on my shawl. Had just had to frog a row, but thought I'd take a picture anyway. Crocheted in web design...yarn is Mission Falls 1824 in Charco 04, using size I needle...bamboo, yummy. November 20, 2004 Working on the poncho again for my mother. I'm started it again for about the 15th time, and finally think I have the increase right, but now the yarn has been totally shredded from being pulled out so much. Had to go back to Knit Happens to get more of the Debbie Bliss chunky merino wool. But now it's ON!! November 17.2004 My favorite activitiy lately is shopping online...adding thousands of dollars in merchandise to theoretical shopping bags & deleting them, forcing myself to take out the items one by one until the total is zero. November 17, 2004 I ran this morning out of pure momentum. The waking up and getting outside has become habitual now, but today the powerwalking senior citizens were lapping me around the track. It makes such a difference in my mood when I exercise though, I'm terrified to skip a day. I'm so addicted to the daytime post-run happiness, I run through sore thighs, cramps and 3-hour sleep exhaustion, just so I can get the high for the rest of my day. If I'm going to keep this habit, i'm going to have to start going to sleep before 1 a.m. November 15, 2004 As it happened...I was productive today! I went to the bank, I got quarters, I bought those little containers for my extra little things, I came home, I went to the grocery store, I stayed within my budget, I did my load of laundry, I worked on my poncho. And now it's 9:30, I'm totally satisfied. I'm watching reruns of Boston Public and wearing Helene's Mint Julep mask wondering why other people get to have perfect skin. I'm going on a run... November 14, 2004 Having accomplished nothing today I throw my crochet in frustration into a corner of the couch and get ready for a good run. When I return I will wash the dishes, put away the clothes, and haul more stuff to my car for that trip to the thrift store that never happens. Tomorrow I am spending the remainder of my weekly budget not spent on yarn on little things to organize all the various cables and attachments that have come with all my new cool electronic toys, like my computer. And I will have to finish ripping out all of the progress made today on my mother's poncho. Since now that it is at the finished length, I realize I did the increases wrong & it doesn't look right at all. Ah! November 13, 2004 AH! I keep reading that Flash book and it seems like I'm never done with the intro chapters. Blah, blah, I need to know how the program works, new features, blah, blah. When do I get to do some stuff?! November 13, 2004 Day spent with friends knitting & searching for the perfect yarn. Found the same dyelot of the green yarn I've been using on my mother's poncho, so I will finish crocheting that for a while. Then it's on to my very first knit scarf. Lily Chin wrote an essay saying that trying to choose between knitting & crochet is like trying to pick your favorite child...both are wonderful. At present, I certainly find the knitting to be more frustrating, as I am just now learning, but I enjoy them both. And certainly, when one is on a budget, the fact that knitting takes less yarn per project is attractive. November 7, 2004 And so I have learned to let go of my anger. And it is a beautiful thing. And now if I can just do it in all aspects of my life, perhaps zen will be acheived. November 7, 2004 I decided the 12" Powerbook was the way to go. As I sit typing belly down on my bed, I think portability was completely the right choice. I may not be able to eat for the next six months, but this is without a doubt the coolest toy I have ever bought myself. Right now I'm just using one of those cheesy templates that comes with geocities, I just couldn't wait to get online anymore. The picture is of a recent pumpkin hunt I went on with some friends. Must stew my pumkin soon so I can make some pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving dinner. Yum. |
