"Oh Rats" Dana cried as she stalled her brand new black jeep. She started the engine and continued on her journey. She was on her way to her boyfriends basket ball game and was already ten minutes late. Her patience had always been short and she wondered how her friends and family put up with it. She pulled into the college parking lot, and gathered her bag from the back seat. Locking the car, she made her way to the gym of Capeside School. Walking through the hall way, she saw her friends coming towards her. "Hey where you been?" One of her friends asked "Hi guys, um, I was at rehearsal and it ran over." "You've really gotta slow down with the singing Dana, You do way to much" Kate, her more attractive friend had always been concerned for her hectic schedule. Between college, Josh (her boyfriend),work and her singing career she hardly had any time left for just hanging out. "I'm doing fine, you worry too much, How's the game going?" Dana quickly changed the subject. "Well we're losing but there's ages to go." "So what are you doing here?" "Oh, getting a Soda, want one?" Dana shook her head, and started past them to the gym and the others made their way to the drinks machine. The Gym was full of people cheering and shouting for each team. The sound was amazing, how everyone was excited and hyped about the game. Dana walked toward the benches and sat down to watch the remainder of the game. She spotted Josh, but he didn't see her. Basketball was as important to him as singing was to her and they agreed never to argue if either career got in the way of their relationship. They would just find some way to work through it, and they had managed successfully so far. Dana watched Josh on the court. His thick brown hair bounced as he ran the length of the court, ball in hand. His deep brown eyes were an added attraction to the muscular body he possessed. If known, Josh was as soft hearted as the next guy, but from a distance you wouldn't tell that this rugged person had a soft spot when it came to love. For instance, on their 1st year anniversary he wined and dined her at an exclusive restaurant. He bought her a small brown teddy bear, almost the colour of his eyes, and it held a circular box tied with a red ribbon. The label on the decorated box was heart shaped and read "I'll love you always". When Dana untied the ribbon and lifted the lid, five small diamonds sparkled and stared up out of the golden band which was their encasement. She looked lovingly in to his eyes over the table in the restaurant before thanking him silently by kissing the tip of his nose. Smiling at the memory she looked down at the ring which was gleaming in all it's glory on her index finger. Dana turned her attention to the basketball game, where Josh had just scored a basket. He ran his fingers through his hair pushing it away from his eyes, and then looked hopefully towards the stalls. His eyes lit up when he saw Dana smiling broadly back at him. He waved and Dana blew him a kiss. Returning to her thoughts she gazed lovingly into the air, gently twirling a piece of her dark -almost black- hair around her finger, her smile still on her face. "Whatcha thinkin'?" Danas' thoughts were interupted by a childish and teasing voice. Dana looked up to see Faith, her best friend and flat mate staring at her with one eyebrow raised. "Oh um, Josh" "hmm Figures" Dana laughed shyly and flushed a deep red. Although Josh had accepted a Basketball Scholarship which started in a week, everyone knew how serious her and Josh were. They'd stuck together through everything and had been a couple since high school. In college now they were closer than ever and it seemed nothing could come between them.
