Chapter 3

Dana awoke the next morning at 9 am. She could hear her room mate in the
kitchen and as she stumbled out of bed she went to see her. Her eyes still
half shut, she opened her door and made her way to the breakfast bar. She sat
down and her friend Faith poured her a glass of orange juice. As usual the
radio was on so that Faith could here the morning news

"Good Morning" Faith said in a chirpy tone.

"Morning" Dana replied in a croaky voice. Faith had placed Dana's mail on the
table for her to open. She was such a good room mate it was like having a maid
around. As Dana began opening her mail she recognised the song and voice on the
radio. She stopped and said

"Turn it up."

"Why"

"just do it"

Faith did and Dana listened carefully. She recognised the voice as the guy last
night. It was so clear and she knew it was the same voice.

"Faith, who is this" she said pointing to radio speaker.

"Its The Backstreet Boys"

"no... who is " she paused waiting for the voice to come again "that"

"umm...not sure, why? Have you met them?" Faiths voice was sarcastic, but
Dana's face was serious.

"I think I have "Dana said

"Don't be so stupid" Faith said sipping her coffee.

"Have you got picture?" Dana sounded desperate to find out what was going on
and so Faith grabbed a magazine and looked through it. She finally found a
picture and showed it to Dana. Dana leant back on the stool and looked amazed.
She gazed at the same blue eyes in the picture which made her stop last night,
and began to tell Faith the whole story.

Meanwhile, at The Pavillion Hotel on 12th Street, blue eyed Nick was sat on his
balcony. The sun was hot and as he stared into space he didn't here his fellow
band member Brian walk in.

"Nick? Hey Nick?" Brian was calling to him but he didn't seem to notice. Brian
walked to the balcony and tapped him on the shoulder. Nick turned to see his
pal looking at him, and then turned back to his solitude.

"Its a girl, isn't it?"

"How is it that every time I'm quiet you think its a girl"

"Cause it always is"

Nick couldn't think of anything to say. He knew Brian was right. It was a girl,
Dana to be exact. He couldn't get her long dark hair and dark green eyes out of
his head. What was he going to say to her when he met her at Two? His mind was
buzzing with anything and everything he could think of. Nick looked at his
watch, 9.30 am.

Dana was panicking back in her apartment. Her voice was quivering as she spoke
of last night. She couldn't believe that some famous singer had asked her to
help him write a song.

"What am I gonna do" She said as Faith tried to calm her down.

"Calm down Dana. He's just a normal person. Pretty good looking if you don't
mind me saying..."

"Faith!"

"Okay" Faith had wondered off into a dream world whilst looking at the picture
in the magazine. Dana was not impressed by her remark. "You gotta admit though,
he is cute!"

Dana shot a look at Faith. Although she agreed he was nice, she couldn't think
about that right now.

"Okay Dana just calm down and go and get dressed. Just imagine he's some normal
guy you met at the recording studio and that he isn't at all famous."

Dana took Faiths advice and went to take a shower and get ready for her big
day.
