They had finally arrived at the hotel, and everyone trudged in, exhausted from the LONG 16 hour drive, plus the flight. Kristy and Nick had been desperately trying to avoid each other, with out much success (hey, it's a small bus!). Each time they were in close quarters together, the tension was thick.
"Bri, you're bunking with Nick in 418" Donna instructed "Howie, and Kev you're in 419, Alex, you get room 420 to yourself, and Kristy you get 421 to yourself. Me and Johnny are staying for the first show, and then we fly back to Orlando"
Exhasuted, Kristy pulled her bags towards the elevator, and plunked down on the floor. Someone came in, and there was a scuffle, and the door glided shut. Looking up, Kristy saw Nick backed up against the far wall, looking desperately at the door. "Damn them" Kristy thought nervously. Nick sat down on the floor beside her, and smiled thinly.
"They guys..they pushed me...in" Nick mumbled.
"Why are they so determined to get us alone together" Kristy asked him wonderingly.
"Maybe they think something will, ya know, happen" Nick supplied anxiously.
"Will something happen?" Kristy asked, not meeting his eyes.
"I dunno, will it?"
"Will it?"
"There is only one way to find out" Nick said softly, and he looked straight into her eyes. He leaned in, and inhaled her sweet perfume. Kristy trembled nervously.
"BING" the doors slid open, and four pairs of eyes stared at them. Nick sat bolt upright, and Kristy shuffled away from him, towards her bags.
"Dammit" AJ muttered.
"Pay up" Howie laughed as AJ handed over a 10 doller bill. Kevin smiled knowingly at them, and Brian grinned. Nick sighed. "So much for that chance" he thought sadly, and watched as Kristy gathered up her bags and retreated down the hall.
"Did you HAVE to be right there waiting?" Nick moaned unhappily. Brian laughed.
"Sorry" he smiled "But Bone and D needed to see who won the bet, and me and Kev were curious"
"You made a bet?!?!" Nick practically shouted, even though he had already figured that out. "Of all the low life things to do, you bet on whether or not me and Kristy would kiss?" They nodded, grinning like little boys. "Well, you were pretty close to winnin' Bone" Nick finished softly.

Kristy walked downstairs for the continental breakfast. There was already a few recognizable faces around a table.
"Morning all" she called cheerfully, and Becki, the makeup artist laughed.
"I hate to burst your bubble hon, but it's already afternoon" She pointed to the clock, and Kristy snorted.
"I'm so lazy" she muttered. After grabbing a doughnut, she pulled up a chair, and sat between Becki and Tom(security guard).
"So are you and Nick together yet?" Becki asked. She was in a gossipy mood.
"Does the whole crew know?" Kristy asked imaptiently. It was really getting out of hand.
"We can tell when Nick had a crush" Tom laughed. "And the others usually tell us who it is, so it's no big secret"
Just then, Nick and Howie walked in. "Speak of the devil" Jason (tour crew) teased. Self conciously, Kristy brushed the crumbs off of her blue tank top.
"Don't worry you look fine" Becki assured her with a smile. Nick pulled a chair, and squeezed in between Kristy and Tom. Becki shot her a meaningful glance. Howie and Tom exchanged knowing looks. Frustrated with all the attention, she pushed back her chair.
"Excuse me, but I'm gonna change" she said.
"I'll come to" Nick said, standing up. The table laughed at him. "I have to get Brian up" he said defensively.
"Sure buddy" Tom grinned, and clapped Nick on the back. Kristy stalked off to the elevator, and shut the door before Nick could get in, so they wouldn't have to suffer another almost kiss, infront of an audience. |
