Soeharto has finally fallen down (lengser keprabon)! But it is not our only purpose since we demand total reforms in all aspects of life to develop our beloved country. To do this, of course, a huge amount of financial aid from some rich countries is needed.

A friend of mine once said to me,"I kind of think that some Indonesian people are very foolish because they continuously spread out the bad news about Indonesia, from the rape incident in Jakarta to the abduction case. Doesn't it just make our effort to get the financial aid more difficult?"

I inferred that he had missed an important point. Well, when I was a kid, I was taught that money is not everything. Above it, far more important, we have to be aware of the existence of human rights. As a part of the whole mankind in the world, we are supposed to pay full attention to the human rights, which have been abandoned for so long during the so-called New Order reign. Simply I think that the people's welfare cannot be realized if the human rights violations still remain. That is why we need to investigate the rape incident, the abduction case, Tanjung Priok case, manslaughters in East Timor, Aceh [?] case, and a lot more... although it happened in the past.

Anyway, I still believe that Indonesia will someday become a great country. Let's pray and hope that we can overcome all our problems so that we will be able to catch up with other countries after being left behind... MERDEKA!
