>where are you, My child?<

messages echoing through the corridors
of a busily empty building
hollow goodbyes and wiping of eyes
extortionate coffee and danish

those who come for the show
go home with those who are in the know
all of these people with vacant eyes
where are they going?

first call for denpasar
johannesburg is leaving
sydney flight at domestic terminal
hong kong boarding now

tight embraces and moist faces
eyes downcast and souls that fast
one last kiss farewell
through the opaque and shadowed

no more shadowed embraces
no more kisses or soft surprises
no more time for nothing at all
no more whole for at least a half

reaching upwards for some sympathy
and He touches from above
but life still feels so empty
from the one who carries your heart

my child, my child, He cries
as tears roll down mercilessly
family offers a shoulder
and God holds tight

empty sympathy with hollow faces surround
belief of good deeds accomplished
but the smiling crier holds together
wishing for all three to be one
