About 12 years ago Egypt was a holiday of a lifetime to me...But now I travel back there as often as I can.
My site is basically showing photographs from some of our holidays, I don't want to make it too heavy with info, as there are many sites like that on the web. Hopefully this will be of interest for beginners who would like to see some sites of interest, with just a touch of info. I hope you enjoy looking at these photographs, as much as we enjoyed taking them.
The people in Egypt are so warm friendly and helpful, and the hotels I have stayed in have been excellent, the food is of good quality. Alcohol is limited, which is why imported spirits are often more expensive than their own brand, which is very palatable.
There are plenty of sites to see in Egypt, Tombs, Temples and of course the awe inspiring Pyramids, also there are many mosques you can visit to... There is always a beautiful sail down the Nile on a Felucca!
Shopping all depends on ones taste but there are plenty of things of interest to all who visit.
The Nile cruise has got to be one of the most relaxing trips you could take, and the scenery on either side of the Nile is spectacular, it is just as it was 5,000 years ago...And this I would recommend to anyone who doesn't mind the heat.
This is a photo of me and my husband Roger!
Hello and Welcome!!
My name is Lin I am 54, and have been married to Roger my husband for 34 years...We live in the U.K and have two sons who have long since left the nest, we also have two grandchildren. Dominic who is two and is very advanced for his age, he is a Manchester United football fan, just like the rest of the family. We are very proud of him and his sister Emma who is a very intelligent little girl, she is six.  We have also recently acquired a ready made grandson called Toby, he's a lovely little boy aged 4.
My interest is basically Ancient Egypt, also Egypt of today.
I travel to Egypt as often as I can, money permitting.
The island of Philae formerly ranked as on of the most beautiful spots in Egypt. It was known as the "Pearl of Egypt" because of its many plants, palm trees and striking group of Temples of sandstone. Here Pharaonic, Ptolemaic, Roman and Christian constructions all blend together.  The great Temple of Isis on the island of Philae, Aswan, was begun by Ptolemy 11, Philadelphus it was completed by Ptolemy 111, Euegetes.
High point of Pyramid construction was reached with the massive Pyramid of Cheops, originally standing at 481ft high.  Chephrens Pyramid originally 471ft high, and Mycerinus Pyramid originally 218ft high.
The sight of the setting sun going down behind the Great Pyramid is something to be seen, to be believed, it is a spectacular sight.
Alabaster Sphinx Memphis, 18th Dynasty.  26ft long - 13ft high, weighs 80 ton.
Stele 18th Dynasty, recording a decree by King Apries.  The inscription lists the lands and personal belongings to the Temple of Ptah, and grants them exemption from tax. Also showing figures of Ptah and the Falcon headed Sokar.
The Step Pyramid at Saqqara stands at about 200ft,  base measurment 397ft by 358 ft. Built of locally quarried clay sandstone.  The Pyramid actually stands in the funerary complex of zoser, built by the architect Imhotep. It was the first attempt at Pyramid building (5,000 yrs) and was a precursor of the famous Giza Pyramids.
Thank you for signing my Guestbook
Saqqara is a vast necropolis, the cemetery area of Ancient Memphis lies on the edge of the Libyan Desert.  The enclosure wall originally stood 34 ft high and was faced with Limestone.
