Burning Thorns

Her walls are not hewn of stone,
Of bricks, or mortar
Her walls are thorns
That penetrate the hearts
Of those who would penetrate her
Defenses.

His heart cannot be pierced by any thorn
But his deep love lights the fire
That burns away the thorns
Leaving no defense to his truth
Or his love
Or their fate.
