1998 Buckhorn Football Season

The 1998 Football season was a big challenge considering that the team was moved up to play some of the best Highschool Football Teams in Pennsylvania. The Bucks had some good talent. Unfortunately, with their new much tougher conference, they were outmatched physically. With the loss of headline grabing players like Damian Allen, Joe Wasilyk, Josh Derrik, Brad Shepps, and others, the Bucks were a young and mosly inexpearienced team. The team did retain many good seniors from previous years such as Steve Cho, Dave McNulty, Joe Andersen, Kevin Kelly, James Kerrigan, John Gaydos, Justin Conlon, Gordon Kenthak, and fresh from Upper Perk, Joe Lascik.
The Bucks had a solid defense with the help of the seniors and juniors on the line. They had a sputtering offense, which really didn't come together until late in the season. During the course of the ten weeks of playing their toughest opponents in many years, the Bucks produced several new underclassmen money players. These included Tom Marrow, John Moore, Chris Cachavelle, Dan Fauble, John Ferringer, and others. All of these things didn't quite work out for the Bucks until too late. They did however play hard and with heart. They scored a touchdown on Riverside, which was only the 3rd to be given up by them at that time. They showed that with a little time, and a continuation of the play hard tradition, they will soon be on top once again.
