Sydney My City | Captain Cook Discovered Australia in 1770 |

The city of the 2000 Olympics I was born in this town and although I have seen much of Australia's Countryside I never go far away from Sydney. It is Australia's largest City and as such has all the vibrance of a large city. I work pretty much in the heart of town and as well as the vibrance there is also a feeling of warmth and friendliness it is a harbour City and this always means that even on the hottest of summer days a breeze is usually there to take the edge of the heat.As well there fortunately has been a reasonable policy of maintaining parklands on the foreshores and in the city itself. We all would like more but the greening of Sydney is Policy and it is up to us to maintain the pressure to assure that it is always considered in future development. As part of the policy of the 2000 Olympics comitee the Games have been called the green Olympics and much of the complacency of Sydneysiders has been shaken and the belief that our environment was in good shape has had to be addressed and on reflection work has had to be undertaken to clean up the city in preparation for the Games. We are beneficiaries as our waterays and landfills urban policies and Transport Standards are only a few of the environmental issues that have come to the attention of policy makers city fathers and public and I for one am greatfull.I am including a link on my links bar for the Olyimpic organizing committee it has all the relevant material in the lead up to the games. | |
