Star Wars is one of my all time favorite movies! I mean where else can you see awesome sapce wars with characters like Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker? We wanted to dedicate a portion of our page to one of our favorite things. I'm really interested in the prequels that George Lucas is coming out with, so here's the what we have..

The Prequel Trilogy



Ok, here are the basics for those of you who don't know what the Prequels are yet. All of this information should be true.

The first of the Star Wars Prequel movies is going to enter theaters on May 21st, 1999, it will be called The Phantom Menance. George Lucas has said he will stagger the movies 3 years apart, so Episode II will follow in 2002, and Episode III will come out in 2005. For those new to this business and haven't noticed, the original Star Wars Movie (A New Hope) is Episode IV, which it says at the begining. The Empire Strikes Back is Episode V and The Return of the Jedi is Episode VI. Next, the prequels will mainly feature the story of Anakin Skywalker (Luke's father) growing up and turning into Darth Vader (however Anakin will probably not be the main character in Episode I and will start off being 9 years old or so). Returning characters include Yoda, R2-D2, C-3P0, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jabba the Hutt (brief appearance), Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, Mon Mothma, and others. George Lucas has finished most/all of the scripts but he of course changed things as he goes along. Lucas will/is/was directing Episode I but will probably not direct Episode II or III. It has been said that his original idea was to make a nine part series of the Star Wars movies and he still thinks he might make Episodes VII, VIII, and IX after the prequel but it's not likely. He has said that if he wrote Episodes VII, VIII, and IX they would just be an add-on to the Star Wars Universe but not part of the Skywalker family story. He has also said that the prequels will shed some light on the original trilogy and change the way we look at them, otherwise he wouldn't be doing them.
