In the begining of my path to sobriety I was extremely messed up and not really sure how or what I was doing.  It was then that I found something in a book and gave it to someone that was particularly close to me.At the time I know that I didn't know why I did it but I did and later in my sobriety as I sat in a birthday meeting, this person spoke of the writting that I gave to them and said that from that moment they knew that I was asking for help. From that time on, that person saved my life and I owe them alot. That is why, to this day, I practice the steps in my life and help others the best way that I know how,I share my experiance, strenght, and hope with the people of AA and I love them all.

The Passing Of A Dream

Help me out of my prison of darkness

Created by the shadows of my ego.

Awaken me from my dream of fear

Where guilt, blame, and attack

Beckon from shadowed doors.

Help me to see the world differently

By finding no value in blame

And self-condemnation.

Help me to experience Love

As my only reality.

Help me to cross only

The bridges of forgiveness

That I may come

Out of darkness

Into the Light.

The next few links will take you to areas in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonomous. If your aware of this book and use it well, it will save your life and give you a whole new meaning of the word "living".

How it works is the most important thing that we learn in AA. To follow these steps means that we will someday be rewarded by the promises of AA.

Dr. Bob gave his last speach in Cleveland,Ohio in 1950. This is it.

The Serenity prayer is one of our main prayers.

I saw a weed today that had the majesty and beauty of the most perfect flower.

Can it be that life, indeed, depends entirely on how we choose to perceive it?

When I am depressed, somewhere deep inside, I know that I am denying the presence fo God.

The way of self is to have us forget about God by getting and attaching ourselves to people and things.

The way of the spirit is to have us remember God by having no attachments and giving our love to everyone unconditionally.

GOD, I offer myself to thee---to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties. that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life.

May I do Thy will always.

This next one is the one that I will never in my life forget. This brought tears to my eyes on the day I realized I needed a life without drugs and alcohol.

FOOTPRINTS

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it. "LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you the most you would leave me."

The LORD repied," My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

SERENITY PRAYER

GOD,grant me the serenity to accept the things

I cannot change,

Courage to change the things I can,

And the wisdom to know the difference.

Okay folks, here is the first request I have for an addition to the page. It's the whole Serenity Prayer.

GOD, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Living ONE DAY AT A TIME; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace. Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it. Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life, and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen

This is the second. This was sent to me by a very good friend.

The Most Wonderful Love There''s the wonderful love of a beautiful maid, And the love of a staunch true man, and the love of a baby that''s unafraid---All have existed since time began. But the most wonderful love, the Love of all loves, Even greater than the love of a Mother, Is the infinite, tenderest, passionate love......... Of one recovering drunk for another.

If you have a favorite that you would like added to this page please send it to me and I will see if I can get it on here for you.

Thank you.
