Gulf II
Well here we are midway through April and the Iraqi conflict is in essence
over. I believe I predicted it over in about a month and as I said in previous writings
Sadam would not stick around and fight to the death I figured he'd skip town like
the pathetic coward he is.
We can expect some continuous mopping up as goes with
all conflicts and im actually surprised with some of the reception i've seen toward
the US military. I never much believed we'd be greeted by flowers as liberators but
I figured the people of Iraq are well tired of Sadam and are ready to try something
different.
I think it was a blessing in terms of policy that we didnt bring the
4th mechanized thru Turkey and militarily speaking it is astonishing how swift and
decisive this conflict has been resolved primarily only using 2 infantry divisions.

Pay
notice to the fact that although the conflict is mostly decided, we're currently
still bringing in the 1st mech army, the 4th mech army has just entered the war theater
and I believe the 1st calvary marines amongst other divisions are also entering Iraq
and there is good reason for this.

Stability on the ground is the focus
but recall from my previous writings that I told you US foreign policy envisions
a stronghold opportunity in Iraq to oversee the conduct of neighboring nemesis like
saudi arabia, Iran and Syria. The US will now have an on the scene force capable
of engaging any of those countries on multiple fronts should a situation call for
it.
With the previous idea in mind I confess I am stunned by the foolish conduct
of Syria at this time in essence harboring if not aiding and abetting Iraqi war criminals,
what an absolutely foolish position to be in, an enemy regime is defeated in 3 weeks
and so Syria gets the clever idea to help them basically as they've lost the war.
Even France isnt that stupid (albeit close)
I dont anticipate any attacks or next
on the list plans for Syria but clearly this country needs to rethink its conduct
like yesterday!
I can tell you that historically Syrian people have suffered
immensly under all sorts of conquering rule. In recent history Syria has been notorious
for supporting terror organizations and undertaking doomed military adventures; in
fact, Syria has never won a military conflict. On 2 or 3 occasions the Syrians engaged
the Isrealis and each time they were beaten badly. Lets hope the current Syrian leadership
is wiser than its past.

Lets keep in mind that this remodeling in Iraq will
take time. The Iraqi people dont know much of democracy, even before Sadam there
wasnt much democracy in Iraq and these people understand power; who has the most
of it at a given time, they will have to learn to get along. I thought it was a great
sign to see Iraqi citizens protesting in complaint to the lack of security in Baghdad,
they are quickly learning how to complain, wow thats the american way!!!
