Red Dwarf is the story of a human, an evolved cat, a hologram, a mechanoid and a senile computer lost in deep space together. It tells us of their good and bad times and the asteroids in the shape of a moose.

David Lister(Craig Charles), 3rd Technician(the lowest rank on the ship not counting the laboratory mice), is the is the only surviving crew member aboard the Jupiter Mining Corporation ship The Red Dwarf after a leathal radiation leak kills eveyone except for Lister's cat, Frankenstein, who was safely sealed in the hold at the time of the accident. Lister was in suspended animation at the time of the accident and couldn't be revived until the radiation levels died down - 3 million years later. Lister finds out that he is the last human alive in the universe, but he is not alone. His crew mates believe that the human species began as slime and will now nd as slime.

Arnold J. Rimmer(Chris Barrie), 2nd Technician, was killed in the radiation leak along with the rest of the crew. He was brought back as a hologramatic human to keep Lister sane. There's only one problem with Rimmer being brought back to keep Lister sane:Rimmer and Lister can't stand each other. Rimmer is an under acheiver with a Napoleon complex who blames all of his shortcomings on his parents and states that he believes in reincarnation, and that he is in fact a brave worrior soul, that has battled many wars over the centuries, only in this time, he was given the body of an abject coward.

The Cat(Danny John-Jules) is exactly what his name implies-a cat. During the 3 million years Lister was in stasis, an entire race of cat people (Felis sapiens) evloved from Lister's cat, Frankenstein. The Cat is the only cat left on Red Dwarf, as the rest of his species left the ship in the midst of a religous war, to leave only the weak behind. The cat ia an offspring on a cripple and an idiot. He has a flamboient taste for fasion and a wardrobe the size of a warehouse.

Kryten(Robert Llewellyn) is a mechanoid series 4000. He's a sanatation 'droid. Designed to clean toilets, he origianly served aboard the Nova 5, but after the rest of the crew of the Nova 5 died, the Dwarfers picked him up. Kryten has been equiped by his manufactuers with an overwhelming guilt chip and has been programed to believe that there is silicon heaven, in order to ensure that he is incapable of rebelling. With the help of Lister, Kryten has learned to break some of his programing and become more human.

Holly(L-R:Norman Lovett seasons 1-2,Hattie Hydridge seasons 3-5), is the ship's computer with an IQ of 6,000 (same IQ as 6,000 P.E teachers or 12,000 car park attendants). However, over the period of 3 million years alone in space waiting to revive Lister from suspended animation, with only himself to talk to, Holly went computer senile. The originally male computer fell in love with his female opposite from a parallel universe, and so becoming incresingly senile, Holly changed his image to that of Hilly, his female opposite. Only he decided to keep his name.

Red Dwarf is an English sci/fi comedy and is now up to it's nineth series, although not everyoe outside England knows of the show, inside England the starts have become exceedingly popular.
